I Called In Sick Today

I just finished watching Premonition (Sandra Bullock), and all I can say is...don't. I seriously wish I could have the last two hours back and live them differently. What a complete waste of time.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

You should've come out drinking with me instead.

I'd say it's basically a lock that he'll catch and pass him, unless A-Rod catches the Griffey injury bug later in his career. I'd think it would have already shown up by now though if he was going to be a chronic misser of games. He'll be the HR King before he's 37.
I agree, it's sort of been the salvation in this shit storm that has been barry bonds the past couple of years. I don't think that he'll get the injury bug like Griffey Jr because he doesn't do the stupid shit with his body that Griffey has done for the past ten years(that first broken wrist comes straight to mind and the shoulder injury two years ago comes to mind too right off the bat)

I'm willing to lay even money against A-Rod passing Bonds, if anybody wants a piece of that action.Wang
derek, only a fool would take that action. no one in history has gotten to 500 faster then ARod. Only Jimmy Foxx and Mel Ott got to 500 in anywhere somewhat close to the time ARod did, and ARod beat Foxx by like two years(this is off of pure memory, and I'm too lazy to check any full on stats). If ARod averages 45 hrs for the next 6 seasons after this one, he'll surpass 755 (cause bonds isn't lasting past this season IMO, so bonds may end up at around 760), to which we can also assume that ARod will still have 3-6 good solid years left in the tank after that because he's taken good care of his body and his move to 3rd will add a good 5-7 years to his career

No, I'm suggesting that A-Rod won't get there, that he'll finish with fewer career HR than Bonds. It's probably pretty close, but I think A-Rod's worse than 50/50 to do it.

The only thing stopping me from jumping all over this action is the fact that I probably won't know you 7 years from now. I plan on getting a life at some point, just not tomorrow. So, in that case, put me down for $100k, I'm sure I'll be good for it 7 years from now.(In the event that this post should come up as evidence in open court one day, let it be known here and now that my bet of $100k was in Monopoly Dollars and Safeway stamps, not US Currency).

I just received word that my old high school is remaining on the cutting edge of disturbing authoritarianism. We were one of the first high schools in the country to have mandatory drug testing for all students involved in extra-curricular activities (band, sports, drama club, etc.). We had a prolonged court battle when a student formed "The Atheist Club" in response to the rampant religious expression and propagandizing before, during and after school. And now, when you sign the waiver to use the school's computers, you are ALSO obliging yourself to refrain from criticizing teachers and staff ANYWHERE ON THE INTERNET, EVEN FROM HOME. So if somebody wants to use the school's computers -- something that has become wholly necessary for almost all students, regardless of courseload -- he is subject to punishment if he blogs angrily about Mrs. English Teacher's mole in his bedroom after school while downloading porn. At this point, they're likely just going to revoke computer privileges -- Dare I ask: what else CAN they do? -- from accused rumor mongers and bored, frustrated teenagers, but that will be punishment enough, I imagine. Poit.I just finished watching Little Miss Sunshine. It was the best comedy I've seen in a really really long time. Anyone who hasn't seen it should, and anyone who doesn't like it sucks at liking movies.
As per usual, I disagree. Didn't think it was that funny, never need to see it again.

I'll take that action. 100$ sound good, more?
100 is fine. No disappearing; I intend to pay if I lose. If I ever leave this place, I'll provide some kind of contact information.

Didn't watch it, no plans. I really don't enjoy the cartoon though, so I seriously doubt I'd like the movie. Serenity is hilarious though, watching that right now for about the 15th time. Hence the new sig.

Is that the Firefly movie? If so, I f'n love that movie/show, to bad it got cancelled. I also think Little Miss Sunshine was hilarious and a great movie overall. Simpsons was meh, but better than the recent years epsidoes imo. Tommorow I plan on watching the 2 bourne movies and then hopefully making it to the theatre to see the 3rd.

I wasn't aware that it was a comedy, but I've never seen it. Maybe I'll check it out. My roommate probably has it in his collection somewhere.

Anything ever made has been better than the Simpsons over the past few years. The show is so horrible recently that words can't even begin to describe how stupid you would have to be to enjoy it.

Yes, the Firefly movie. It's a total instant classic, I watch it every couple of months, feels like, and it never gets old. I'd really like to see a sequel or anything involving Joss Whedon and these characters, but it kinda feels like everyone associated has pretty much moved on. Bourne is definitely on my list of things, but seeing movies in the theatre doesn't really work so well with an overnight schedule.

It's half comedy, half action-adventure, half sci-fi, and half western. Yes.

What'd I miss? You know, other than someone going completely insane and claiming that Firefly is a funnier movie than Little Miss Sunshine. I did like Firefly, but as a sane person I recognize the fact that LMS is much, much, much funnier on every possible level.

To be honest, I wouldn't feel uncomfortable having either side of this bet. I honestly feel right now like the odds are almost exactly 50/50. A-Rod's in the best shape of anyone to catch Bonds, but 250-300 more homeruns is a daunting task for anyone. I mean, if he blows out a knee or tears a hammy, and misses half-a-season's worth of games in the next two years because of it, he'd probably be a dog. That being said, unless something disastrous happens, he'll probably be within reasonable striking distance at some point, and would likely prolong his career for the sole purpose of breaking the record.Either way, at least when the Tigers are completely out of it in about a week, I'll have something to follow. All in all, this has been a pretty productive Sunday. Wang's To-Do List Aug. 05, 20071) Work CALL IN SICK (Went to work and requested day off for "personal reasons." When asked for specifics, responded, "general malaise and some fury." I'm starting to hit my irons pretty alright as a righty, lots of loft, plenty of distance. But I can barely hit any kind of finessey chip or wedge shot unless I shoot it left-handed. So I'm pretty fucking fucked up. One good thing: I feel kinda cool going back and forth at the range, because everyone looks at me weird.)3) Letters to the Editor (in progress)4) Become educated on US Postal Service status quo. (This ridiculous "Michael Clarke-Pumpkin" aside that I came up with to be goofy while I was posting earlier led to at least an hour musing on whether I can get any funny out of a "Michael Clarke-Pumpkin and Ving Maims" joke. I think I could pull it off, but I'm still working on it. Chris and I are very, very excited for Halloween. Unhealthily excited.)Anyway, this has been my most fruitful Sunday in a long while.Wang

I have to agree its going to be difficult no matter who it is, but when you throw in the fact that he plays a less injury prone position and probably would care more about the record than his team winning I think he has a good shot at it.

I don't understand why A-Rod has this terrible reputation as being a me-first kind of player. Can anyone explain this to me? I've always thought A-Rod's much more professional than most superstars.Wang
