InternetExplorer 2,609
I can’t speak for everyone else, but I have significantly less going on in my life now compared to the heyday, and I also realize that a lot of things I find interesting are in fact not interesting. Napa_Don 688
I actually have a lot more going on in my life plus I’m in a job where I actually have to work at my job and so I don’t have a ton of time during the day to post as much as before.

Totally disagree. Everything you talk about is interesting to me. (Especially detailed office politics)

It's nice to catch up, but things certainly don't move at a fast pace anymore unless something interesting happens to someone or Mexico comes in to post a picture of his dogs. The other mega thread is still like 4000 pages ahead of us and they haven't moved to the next page in like 5 years. If you stick around, that will liven the place up! Tell us about this AMAZING paint product! Why should I buy it for my home and all my relatives homes? You ever wonder when you're rolling paint on a wall why you have to stop rolling in the corner and use a brush? Me neither, but my brother did, so he enclosed the end of a paint roller so you can paint on two sides of a wall at the same time. I guess it's like being the only one allowed to drive in the carpool lane during rush hour traffic, pros love it. So we hawk those now.
brvheart 1,753
Yesterday we went downtown and went to the Art Institute. There is a new Andy Warhol exhibit that was great fun to see. In the afternoon we saw my cousin put on a painting demo at Blick Art Supplies (They paid for 3 nights at a downtown hotel and his flights to come paint at the store for 2 hours). At the end of the demo he gave me his painting, so that's going on the wall. (https://lasaterart.com/ for reference) To end the night we went to the Original Billy Goat Tavern and had some burgers (a few of our group went to House of Blues) and then we went home. It twas a fun day.
hank213 1,823
Would you plunk down €25k to play in a tournament knowing that the casino owner was also in the tournament? A) Absolutely fine. After all, casino owners are renowned for their honesty and straight forward dealings. 2) No last) **** no. -edit Does it change your answer if the location of the casino is in Eastern Europe? Napa_Don 688
Strat, my 401k at my old company is now closing and I have to move it. hank213 1,823
This time of year always sucks for me. My allergies ramp up into 5th gear and so I feel not necessarily sick but in that phase where you feel like you're coming down with something only for weeks at a time. About 70% of the time I end up with a gnarly sinus infection somewhere between late September and mid-October. While I don't have that this year I just constantly fell run down, have a runny nose and slight cough most days from sinuses draining. Sorry you're under the weather naps, that was my lame attempt to commiserate.

I would use their risk tolerance questionnaire to figure out what the allocation should be. https://advisors.vanguard.com/iwe/pdf/FAMPCSPA.pdf As far as your 401k, what’s the lineup, and what did the questionnaire tell you to have in equity?

hank213 1,823
Basically they monitor your 401k and look to optimize (diversification, rebalancing, fee monitoring etc.) based your responses to their risk/goal retirement questionnaire for $10/mo. https://www.blooom.com/philosophy/

hank213 1,823
Direct boss has been at a conference all week, was back in the office today. Today was my least productive day this week in terms of moving the ball forward on any of my projects/tasks/deliverables. I really hope correlation isn't part of causation but, in my gut, I don't think that's the case.
InternetExplorer 2,609
As long as blooom doesn’t cause you to look at your 401k allocation as something to “stay on top of,” it’s probably OK. $10/month is not a big deal. You could use the vanguard allocations and risk tolerance questionnaire to do it on your own, but $120/year is a small price to pay to not have to try to map your plan’s fund lineup choices to the various asset classes. If you do go the do it yourself route, just make sure you’re doing automatic rebalancing annually, or do it manually if you don’t have that option.
