CobaltBlue 662
I hit South Florida for a quick trip.
Napa_Don 688
CFO from my old bank just emailed me saying they have a manager of FP&A role at his new job he thinks I’d be great for and wants to meet to talk about it. The commute and work stress would be a lot worse but i don’t know what number he’d have to offer to get me to say yes. Start...move to MPLS.

I could see it, honestly. I might fire off a few applications. Love to hear stuff like that. Networking is so powerful because people by and large have no GD idea how to recruit. Napa_Don 688
I mean, it’s still a long ways away from an offer in hand but it’s nice to know he thinks that highly of me to even reach out. Like, I don’t really have any management experience (dammit past Napa for not doing the manager tools stuff like Uncle Hank said!) but he also knows that and is still reaching out so maybe it’s not a huge deal for him. But I also really like my current job and quality of work/life balance but knowing what the pay range is for this type of role might make up for it. Who knows. Anyways, I emailed him back to set something up.
brvheart 1,757
I, too, am worried about my best friend SA and hopes he can find some help. Brvy...I feel like your trying to get our goats here with your talk of expected 28% raise but only got 11%?! I thought you were making pretty good coin already, were you making like $9/hr or something? I got a substantial promotion at this time last year, and I felt like they were going to give me another significant boost. The 28% would have been a logical raise, from a total compensation standpoint, which is why I semi-expected that. Once I'm at that dollar amount, I expect to plateau for several years. I get that 11% is better than normal, but it would be like Strat getting his planner/trader dream job and only getting an 11% boost. I just expected more, but am still joyful to have a good job where people like me. I hit South Florida for a quick trip. Left after work Thursday, met a friend for a bit, then slept at my brother's apt at the beach, got up early, played golf, which was delightful, had lunch, met friends out that night, slept at a friends house, got up at 6am, uber'd to my car, made stops at two different stores they don't have up here, stopped at a friends house and was home by noon. So, in 53 hours, I was at work for 9, in the car for 6, slept around 12, and socialized the rest. Always so good to be back home, be with the doggies, be in my own bed tonight. As I get older, I drink less and like being home more, but still occasionally like the ride up from having some drinks and catching a nice buzz I only shared this boring post because I feel like I contribute nothing. My golf game was shit. Last Saturday, it was better. I gotta put some time in at the range and iron some crap out. Not a lot of ranges around here. Close one is only a practice range, 180 yards max Does anyone know the perfect shaft length for clubs vs your height? I know mine are too short for me, but I don't know by how much. It’s a damn shame you didn’t get more. 2) no idea but pretty sure most places will help fit you 3) thanks but I haven’t done anything yet other than have an email account for him to email me at

InternetExplorer 2,609
So, I had to return the wingtips from a month or two ago. There was a staple sticking up through the sole. I wasn’t overly thrilled about the fit anyway. I was happy to let it be, until I saw AE is having a Father’s Day sale... so I got these. https://www.allenedmonds.com/shoes/shoes/oxfords-derbys/park-avenue-cap-toe-oxford/5956-105-D.html I already have a pair in black, and they’re phenomenal in terms of look (pair with all kinds of clothing) and comfort. I also am getting one of these on a brown strap, to tie together all my clothing stuff. Getting it for $1k below list price all-in at a gray dealer. https://nomos-glashuette.com/en/tangente/tangente-neomatik-39-140

Napa_Don 688
Just go with the original, Hankey. I mostly just don’t like the sole on those AE’s. https://www.gucci.com/us/en/pr/men/mens-shoes/mens-moccasins-loafers/1953-horsebit-leather-loafer-p-307929BLM001000
hank213 1,823
So for a guy who likes slip ons but hates tassles and equates penny loafers with the boomer generation what's the go to? ---edit under 4 or 5 bills.
Napa_Don 688
https://www.rancourtandcompany.com/men-s/loafers/penny-loafers/beefroll-penny-loafers.html They’re not your grandpas loafers. Actually they probably are. But they’re good as hell. Or these. These are much better than the original ones you posted. https://www.allenedmonds.com/shoes/shoes/loafers-slip-ons/verona-ii-italian-loafer/SF40002.html?dwvar_SF40002_color=40005#start=1&sz=36 Tell you what...I get this manager job I’m wearing nothing but loafers. Tassels, pennies, horse bit..suede, leather...you name it, I’ll have it.
Ron_Mexico 4,219
I seem to have a blind spot when it comes to loafers. I just don’t seem to like them, so don’t mind me
Napa_Don 688
I think the reason why they look bad on people is that most people wear their pants too long and too baggy with them.

Most of the AE's seem to have the same sole except for the driving mocs and the verona's you posted (which I was just getting ready to post) which I think I like better than the first pair of verona's I posted. I also don't mind these loafers (same sole?) https://www.allenedmonds.com/customer-favorites/randolph-penny-loafer/SF4809.html?dwvar_SF4809_color=4809 I reject the loafers you posted tyvm. they look like dr martens made a pair of loafers or something. Napa_Don 688
Yeah, those aren’t bad. I just don’t like the chunky rubber soles. Also...how dare you insult those beefroll loafers.
InternetExplorer 2,609
Thoughts? https://www.allenedm...106_color=55106 Those were my first buy with AE, and I returned them. It's like wearing a collar with a bell on it. Extremely comfortable but I'm not jingle jangling around the office here.

I have these in bourbon, apparently a limited run which is a pain to get polished. I like them, but they made me realize how important it is to have shoe trees, because they started warping like immediately.
Napa_Don 688
If you have a Nordstrom rack near you they usually have shoe trees that are like 2 pairs for $30 or something.

I was trying to stick with only Jordans from here forward, but I definitely gotta mill those over. I love you, and hate you. Thank you for thinking of me, good sir
