If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

Colby: When are you going to sell your BTC, what with the incoming crash and all? It's going to cross 20k like tomorrow and it's "only" at 18k today.

I mean, I've sold some along the way, but I'm very much in HODL. I do still use it to play poker. It's interesting because the stakes have really changed along with the run up. The smallest games they run...the max buy in is 2mBTC (.01mBTC/.02mBTC blinds). When BTC was $1k, that correlated to a $2 buy-in...now it's $32. The sites are probably going to have to readjust the "chips" as a result. I was usually playing the 50-100mBTC buy-in games when that was equivalent to $.25/.50 and $.50/1 not too long ago...but now those are $800 and $1600 buy-ins.

I'm also pretty "diversified". Like, about 50% of my crypto is Bitcoin, but I've got holdings in about 25-30 others.

Incidentally, the appreciation means that I now have my largest "bankroll" that I've ever had.

How do you value something with no fundamentals? That’s kinda why I won’t ever have any for any reason other than to transact. There is no basis to avoid emotional decisions.

Well hopefully it soars to 30 and you can double your money. I have no idea how bitcoin works though, so my math might be off.

Well, since you asked, I made it through the Christmas party seemingly career intact. Ruined my next day pretty fantastically. Took an Uber both ways because the company reimburses for the party, and frankly looking at the total due, I don’t know why the girlfriend and I don’t just go out more often on Fridays. I would be down, kinda doubt she would, but I’m gonna try it this week.

Travel costs is what was stopping you from going out on Fridays?

I can’t imagine you being happy about paying retail for a cocktail and decent entree for two. Hell, even I hate it, but I have 10 cocktails.

It’s just the unease of when to stop drinking to be able to drive. Also, don’t really care anymore about fun/discretionary expenses as long as it isn’t excessive (consistently more than say $500/mo). I am at a savings level where it doesn’t make sense to sacrifice happiness related to some $10/mo expense anymore. Part of it was passing my big exam, just felt like I earned the right to be less concerned.

Congratulations.

So, what kind of dryer sheets are you buying?

After my first Uber, drunk from a bar, the ease and inexpensive nature of it caused me to use it more, even though my wife doesn’t drink much. It’s just easier, especially if I head downtown and it’s hard or pricey to park

If I know I want even one drink, I uber. Then again, I don’t go out much anymore.

An appetizer, two entrees and two or three drinks at a bar is a $100+ night out. Especially if you stop at a different place before or after dinner for a drink, then it’s $130

This craft cocktail bar:

Rye old fashioned is $9

Blood orange Manhattan $9

$22 or so out the door

Dinner

$7 drink

$7 drink

$9 appetizer

$20 entree

$25 entree give or take

$12-$15 tip

Almost a $110 night for two, no buzz. Now factor in 6 drinks for me, plus the uber $8 each way

I’m at $200 for a fun night out, and that’s not even counting when I get buzzed and buy rounds and/or pick up the entire check of a bigger group

It’s why I stay home

I just realized that ten years ago, I encouraged strat to spend. Now, I save and can be cheap and he spends (more). I’m sure I still waste more money than he does

I’m beyond dryer sheets. I bought a six pack of wool balls (heh) from amazon for like $8 and they work just as good, if not better, than dryer sheets and they’re cheaper and more environmentally friendly. Win/win/win. They can be kind of loud in the dryer though. Win/win/win/loss, I guess.

I will eventually be right there with you. I was already loosening up a bit, and then I finally opted for amazon prime. I can’t see a $200 night out any time soon, but $75 sure.

Ron, those prices seem low. Maybe that's because I still picture you in Miami and imagine it's more expensive. I can burn a c-note myself on a night out in a flyover state, but I guess with that budget I'd be pretty tipsy.

People have asked me how I can afford to go to Vegas 2 or 3 times per year. It's because I rarely go out to sit down restaurants or drinking any more. Figure one night out a week at 100-200 per and next thing you know you have a decent little trip to Vegas.

Yeah, that was just an estimate. I definitely drink more. No was using a low key night. Can definitely do $100 in booze and not be bombed.

Miami was an hour south, and I definitely would need $500 for a good night there

In Orlando, I avoid the attraction areas, stay local

Essay seems to have been gone for a minute. He’s probably spending time with his new girlfriend for the holidays.

More likely, he finally miscalculated his auto erotic asphyxiation while jerkin it ahd hung himself

You’ll be missed, my man. Most of your content was shit, but dammit, you brought it with conviction. You’d occasionally make a solid top ten and definitely get some good zingers off. We thank you for your service

I should’ve said these things to him while he was still alive.

I won’t make that mistake with you, NapaD
