I Called In Sick Today

Recommended Posts

That's really cool. I'm always in awe at the efficiencies you find and wish I come up with something half as cool for my job.

I got extremely lucky. If I didn't take the first job, and then meet the guy that got me the second job, it would all have played out completely differently. If I had come in a year or two later, they probably would have already thrown $100-200k at someone to try to fix these problems, and I never would have gotten the at bat. It blows my mind. I guess quite a lot of things in life seem crazy to have worked out in retrospect.

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

In MPLS for Thursday so I’ll probably just make something from leftovers unless somebody invites me to their family dinner and even then I might decline.

Friday is our “Friendsgiving”/beer pong tourney.

Saturday/Sunday I’ll go home for family thanksgiving.

I’m excited to clock out on Wednesday. Hopefully around 2:30 pm but most likely it’ll be like 6 pm because budget is hell.

Strat I have a standard cease and desist letter I can send her. Let me know.

Thanksgiving with Mom and brother on Thursday, then with Dad, brother, grandpa, Aunt, uncle and cousins on Friday. I’m bringing desert, so it’s cookie cake and ice cream and fvck anyone who complains.

Strat you need to put on your holiday flexible pants. If it's only for a few hours, let her invite whoever she wants!

I'm going to my mom's. About 30 people will be there. Should be a good time, but I'll "disappear" for a few hours at some point because I'm an introvert.

I wouldn’t have agreed to go if it was more people, that’s all. I am for sure driving myself so I can check out early.

One of my best friends up here is an absolute blast to party with but her boyfriend doesn’t like to go out and so they’ll come to parties for 2 hours max, if at all, before leaving. And maybe she’s into that now but I don’t care for it. Her boyfriend is fine, I mean, I get it, but it doesn’t mean she has to leave. I guess I just miss my friend.

Having a partner that always wants to leave things that aren’t about them is the worst. My buddy’s wife is like that. He left our rehearsal and wedding after a couple of hours because she was tired and didn’t feel well. Always gets sick when it’s his friend. Plus, they had a hotel across the damn street. What, she needs to be watched? Part blame is on him for not having a backbone. Don’t get me wrong, I get being there for your spouse, but come on

i can think of 12 reasons.

I actually thought of that, but let’s be honest here, does strat really strike you as a rambunctious, enthusiastic lover? Like, is he flipping you over for doggie and giving you a quick bit of analingus before he slowly puts it in and really going to work? Yeah, me either.

Tilt wouldn't get this reference.

I'm going to take the contrarian side, but I don't think you should risk the ruination of your friendship over shooting a low percentage shot, particularly since she already has a boyfriend. You should be shooting more, certainly, but not with women who you are close friends with, who are already in relationships. Now, you could encourage her to find a boyfriend that isn't so much of a complete zero, but do it for her sake, not for dirty macking purposes.

Yeah, I have no intention of dirty macking. I don’t know who initially suggested that but it’s never going to happen. I do appreciate the confidence, but yeah, never going to happen. She’s a good friend and that’s just fine by me. She bought me lunch the other day. A burrito. There’s a casino about equidistant from our workplaces that we’ve considered going over lunch to play some blackjack but we both know if we got stuck we’d both have a hard time leaving down and then we’d end up getting fired.

I tried pretty hard to get her to agree to just let me buy thanksgiving dinner from this really nice local restaurant. It's like $25/plate, pre-prepared, customized to the number of people you choose. I don't care, say it's five people, I just don't want to eat shitty food like last year (it was at a different relative of hers'). I didn't say it like that. She insisted on her mom cooking. I relented, and it now sounds like it is being built up into a Big Deal with more attendees. I just wanted this dumbass holiday to pass uneventfully.

Last thanksgiving, her mom said something to me in reference to me being a "higher up" at my company, and now the whole situation just bothers the shit out of me. I make a positively middle class amount of money. I will never own a house that includes a mother in law suite. ****. Stop.

Christ, I hate a lot of stuff, and don't have a large family that ever subjected me to awful holiday get togethers, but I find it hard not to get behind Thanksgiving traditions, whatever they may be. It's just: Eat lots of food.
