InternetExplorer 2,609
I think you should get pre-approved and get a realtor to send you automated MLS listings based on your criteria. I felt like Zillow was just the aged inventory, not representative of what was getting listed and snapped up in 1-2 days. The market was totally different under the surface, and I was more on top of changes due to the MLS notices.
Napa Lite 3,278
I have no intention to ever move out of MPLS. I wouldn't be against a roommate, at least temporarily, but basically all my friends already own a house or have a long term gf that they live with. The two unattached bros who I would consider living with already have their own place, so, any roommate would probably end up being a random...which, I'm not super into. The only problem with the above house is that there's only one bathroom on the main floor. The other is in the basement. Which, living by myself is fine, but if I had a roommate idk how thrilled they'd be about having their bathroom be downstairs. Granted, right now I live in the basement and my bathroom is on the main floor and it's not a huge deal. And the backyard isn't fully fenced in, but, whatever, that's an easy enough fix. I already have a in ground fence I could use until I could afford a real fence. That's a good idea about the realtor. I did notice some listings on a realtors site that weren't on zillow yesterday. hank213 1,823
zillow is nice for dipping your toe in the water but it's not for real players, it's basically the floor of real estate shopping not the ceiling. if you're serious, realtor listings are much better and if you're 100% committed and ready then ask your bros for a realtor they trust to act as buyer's agent and, like Ronny mentioned, get pre-approved. BigDMcGee 3,353
I unfollowed a while back. Either he's a super weird or just trying way too hard to be irreverent No, he's just super weird. Everything I've ever read about him, he's extremely eccentric

brvheart 1,753
If I had to buy a house today this is like, the only one I could afford that I would consider. https://www.zillow.c.../?fullpage=true Love it. You shouldn't definitely get a realtor working for you, but this is a nice house for your situation. Either he's a super weird or just trying way too hard to be irreverent That's the feeling I get. It seems like he's being weird for the sake of being weird. Which is weird. It's hard to Andy Kaufman on Twitter, but he's doing it.
BigDMcGee 3,353
Counter point: buy an empty lot, and build a tiny house. I love tiny houses so much, I am obsessed with them.
hank213 1,823
Sure, if you want to set money on fire. The tiny house fad is just that. Which, might be ok to try and capitalize on in the short term if the market likely wasn't at (or very near) peak pricing on the fad items. I think buying a tiny house now would be like buying into the credit default swap market in late 2004 or early 2005.
Napa Lite 3,278
I am far too materialistic for a tiny house. Went to a different houses open house yesterday. It was pretty OK, but I think a little overpriced compared to other houses I’ve been seeing.

Napa Lite 3,278
Been having meetings with branch managers to set budget for the past two weeks. I joked yesterday in one about millenials not opening cd’s because we don’t have any money to put in them (not, yanno, because just my regular ally savings account gets me more interest than our highest special rate cd’s, but whatever). Next meeting the market manager goes “wow, Napa, $3k, I bet you’d like to know what it feels like to have that much money” in a meeting with the consumer banking president and a branch manager and not in an actual joking tone but in her passive aggressive MN nice tone. Wanted to be like bitch, I literally just transferred $6k into my high yield savings account before this meeting. She really grinds my gears. I might have mentioned this, but my boss thinks that she’d be next in line for the consumer banking pres role when our ceo retires (my boss won’t tell me when exactly but he did say there’s a hard exit date set for him and then most likely the current PCB would take over). If that’s how it shakes down and I don’t get a different role I’m moving on because I can’t work for her.
InternetExplorer 2,609
I can’t understand why she would even go there. That’s not even a funny joke. I would definitely still be in my old role, and probably driving more value for the org, if not for the POS director in that group. Bad managers are just poison.
Napa Lite 3,278
Idk. But I don’t care for her. She’s been uncooperative, passive aggressive, and has attempted to throw me under the bus numerous times in these meetings. I don’t care for her. On the other end of the spectrum was the market manager who was more than prepared and nice and who even said nice things about me. It’s too bad she’s an older lady because I wouldn’t mind having her as my boss.
Napa Lite 3,278
On the housing front...my buddy had mentioned he really liked his mortgage guy awhile back and so I just asked for his name, not really telling him (my buddy) why I was looking at houses and he just own his own offered up their upstairs for me to live in if I needed a temporary place for a few months so, this might all still work out OK.
InternetExplorer 2,609
My girlfriend is kinda flipping out because they promoted her coworker up into a manager role over her. It is a department of three, and none of the three are go-getters, and the new manager was the most experienced. All seems about right. I basically just told her: your unhappiness has an impact on my life, so I look at this as a problem for both of us. Figure out what you like in your day, translate that into a job role, and build a roadmap. I’ll help at every step, and I know someone who does this for a living who can also be a resource. Etc. She tells me she has this wedding coming up and she doesn’t have time to work on anything until that’s done. I resisted the urge to tell her that the situation can’t be that upsetting if the solution can be trumped by a fcking wedding.
