CobaltBlue 662
I hope you're at a Total Wine & Spirits, either in east Boynton or in Royal Palm ABC in Wellington/Royal Palm. And welp, too late on the bourbon. Got restocked with my favorites though. I'll probably get lambasted for this list, but...Drambuie, Bacardi 151, Jose Cuervo Mini Margaritas (for my wife), Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Jackson-Triggs Vidal Icewine, and a 6-pack of Shock Top. CobaltBlue 662
Stagg Jr I think Went back in and they had a bottle. Pretty sure I overpaid at $50? Oh well. Kind of fun to bond with you guys.
InternetExplorer 2,609
$50 is very much on the low end. I have never seen it below $49.99. try it neat, then add a tiny bit of water!
Tiltinagain 973
Long ass drive today. Home (Sacramento area) to Pahrump, about an hour outside of Vegas. 8 hours, 20 minutes including gas/restroom breaks. Passed the Cherry Ranch just outside of town and wondered if they've been busier than normal after Lamars ill fated visit.

Tiltinagain 973
Why don't they fly you anywhere? Since they provide us with a company car they much prefer we drive anything up to 8 hours, which is why I fly when I go up to WA. Today was a long day but frankly I'd rather drive then fly on trips like this. But the time I'd drive to the airport (40 minutes) get there 1 1/2 hrs early, 1 1/2 hour flight, 1/2 hr to an hour to get off the plane and get a rental car and then drive the hour from Vegas to where I am I'm 5 1/2 hours in. By driving I'm on my schedule, have my car etc...

Iphonenkinder 558
Hi I need help blending with the cultural elite. I got invited to see Ta-Nehisi Coates. I'm not meeting him or making small talk, etc. I haven't read the book and won't have time. PS For dinner tonight, two lovely reds, a prosciutto salad (not typo), and a 5 cheese plate. Tiltinagain 973
I'll be goddamned if that is not the absolute stereotypical apex of LA pretentiousness.

Mostly I would agree with you. Usually I hit Vegas as part of an LA trip so it's not so bad.

If you haven't read anything of his at all, I'd recommend the case for reparations piece he did, but its so long, you may as well just start the book. If you have any knowledge of comics at all, I know he's an xmen geek, like hard core comic fan. I know he'd way rather talk comics than what ever race questions he's going to get from white LA elites. Don't even try faking that you read the book.. Edit: Oh you're just hanging out with those elites, not him? Then definitely fake that you read it, they won't have read it either. Just bet back into them.
Napa Lite 3,278
He's writing the new "Black Panther" comics, too. I haven't read the book either but it's my understanding it reads more as a letter to his son and this really rustled the jimmies of black women for not acknowledging their struggle even though it was a book about growing up as a black man in America. I keep meaning to read his latest piece on mass incarceration but always end up getting distracted by work. I do know Jason Whitlock has *many* issues with it so that's good enough for me to know it's super legit.

The NPR show Here and Now (I think it was) did an interview with him that was really good. The podcast is easily available and you'd get some great background and insight on him in less than an hour.
