I Called In Sick Today

Recommended Posts

Yeah I got a template offline to draw up the promissory note. I should charge myself an hourly rate. I'm practically a lawyer now.

And everything I say should be taken as legal advice.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

Feels good stratty. Welcome to the dark side.

I was promoted to assistant vice president today. So that was nice.

I was also told the people i met with in houston said i was rude and said our side of the company was better than theirs. Neither of those things are true, but my boss's boss is upset. So that was bad. But fvck them for saying that, cause i didnt say or do anything like that.

They can't be too upset about it if they promoted you during the same conversation.

Congrats!

Thanks. The promotion takes time, so they put that in weeks ago. This bullshit chaps my ass. I really cant think of anything i said that could be considered rude or derogatory. Im very interested to hear what i said that was so offensive.

Be honest though, Napa is right, that sounds like you.

Is there not a chipotle close to their office

And you better let it go because you will never get a concrete answer as to what they said you said. And if you do, it will be trumped up by them so it sounds like a legit complaint and not 100% truthful. I hate that shit

This was live, correct? I was just reading a Twitter string the other day where they were discussing that live events should always pay all those that come back for day 2. Which I think is a good way to go. 22 hours of poker with not even your buy in back is ridiculous.

Super cute pic of your daughter!

Yeah, I mean, this was a rare event with just a super slow structure and field for the buyin size. They usually bring back 12% of the field for most day 2s around here, so you almost always do cash. I made day 3 of the WSOP ME years ago and also didn't cash. Debating whether to play another event this weekend. Would be a lower buyin with same big prize pool and faster structure...but another 20mins added drive each way. (Probably 70mins total each way.)

Thanks.

Farther than Isle? Hard Rock or the other one right by it?

I actually won a 38 (or so) person tourney at the smaller casino near the Hard Rock in Hollywood. Only paid $1500 or so but it was nice. I'd take $1500 right now. It was their regular Saturday night deal

I want to know about the times when Ron wouldn't take $1500

Fair point.

To work a scat party.

To bang two guys at once, both unattractive

Umm, I think that's the list

Yeah, Hard Rock. They're doing a big series.

Are you talking about Gulfstream maybe? I've never been there.

I think it's just called the Seminole Casino. It's no more than 5 minutes from the Hard Rock.

Good luck sir. Run like Kenyan

yeah the Monsanto acquisition I just did was definitely almost as big as this condo purchase

I'm curious how this large position plays out. Are you just buying the dip/rebound? My sense of Karmic/comedic timing says something will happen soon (i.e. lawsuit, epa sanction, auditor finding etc) that will cause an adjustment.

You realize that these people are now your sworn enemies and you must frequently stoke the fire of this vendetta until the day you can use your not so considerable power to stick it in and break it off, right?

It seems cheap relative to history at the moment. Some other stuff to look at: net income continues to trend up, margins are in line with history, div payout is very sustainable, etc.

I don't know what analysts are saying, but I'm guessing the stock is selling off over negative guidance related to the strong dollar. This guy thinks I'm an idiot. I think he is all-in on one data point (P/FCF) and glossing over the fact that MON has a historically low P/E in a market that's trading at a historically elevated P/E. The stuff about the dollar is just short-term gyration, and I'm happy to pick up the blue chips as they hit lows.

Could IP laws change in the future, and completely wreck Monsanto's business model? Yep. I'm comfortable with the risk.

Probably going to a wedding in Boston next summer. Too bad you're busy that weekend, Thera. Going to do a self guided walking tour of all the Good Will Hunting filming locations.

My holdings ranked by size:

I dumped NDLS for MON today, should be my last trade in an individual company until Jan 1. Obviously NDLS spikes 5% for some reason immediately after I sell it.

I got the max raise today (20%). I am killing it relative to where I was 1.5 years ago, but it still stings to know that I'm going to make less than half of what my roommate does for the next year+. My boss knows that I don't see the department as a long-term fit given the pay inequity and attitude problem my roommate has, and I think he does empathize with the situation. I don't know wtf I'm going to do for the company if it's not something related to investments, though.

From what I understand, if you're going to visit Bunker Hill CC (Robin Williams' office), well, it was nice knowing ya. That's only second hand knowledge but I do know they used to be a client of mine and pretty much everyone that works in the business office has no idea what they're doing.

20% is solid. Might I recommend grinding it for a bit longer and see what opportunities may present themselves? I mean, you could jump ship and end up hating the new place just as much with no shot at a PBI like that.

Who knows! I'll still have a child, though, so I'll probably be busy.

Pre-sale tickets for US/Brazil friendly at Gillette go on sale tomorrow. 12 rows back of a corner flag are $95. Anything lower-tier, middle is $150+. Shittiest seats are $50. I like the corner seats for soccer, hoping to get some of those. Sitting up high sucks in big stadiums, especially when it's not cheap. Sat way up for a Patriots playoff game; 20 degrees with an ant-like view of the players for $100. Not worth it.

The Brazilians bring a great atmosphere, it'll be a good time. Few days before my birthday. Not bringing the kid; hoping to get him to some lower key sporting events in the next month or two, but 2 and a half is probably way too young for a 70,000 person event.
