I love you to brvy. Was I The only one who couldn’t access the forum for the last 30 days? It kept telling me the connection wasn’t private and my browser wouldn’t let me visit the site. Weird shit.

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

sucks to get old bro. sucks that this place has finally died. i never thought i'd see the day, not really.

I blame YOU, Suited.  Be around more.

We had a family reunion in Iowa this weekend.  There were about 85 of us.  It was mostly fun.  I'm always sad to hear about the various broken relationships.  We have been lucky overall though.  Out of my two grandparents on that side (who are now both dead) they had 5 kids that had 7, 2, 2, 4, and 2 kids respectively and countless great grandkids and great great grandkids.  Zero divorces in the whole tree.  But still, kids not talking to parents, and others not even coming to the reunion because they don't like others.  People in counseling because of parental trauma.  It's sad to hear about.  Still a great time overall.  Sad to hear AutoWeek is shutting down within the next month.  One of my cousins was on their executive team and was recently laid off.  I'm a magazine/newspaper guy.  I'm quite sad that both of those sectors will be dead soon.

I have another cousin that's 2nd in command at a national gun manufacturer.  He just got that job, which I am super happy about, because now I can get any caliber ammo in any quantity at any time.

Man, The Nice Guys is such a good movie.

Agreed. The other movie that strikes a similar chord in tone or feel for me is Inherent Vice. If I'm flipping around and that one is on I always stop on it.

Went to Vegas for a few days to chill. Pretty much just hung out at the pool. Stayed at Aria and felt it was over rated, over priced (lowest table min was $25) and the overall experience is better at Bellagio. Had a blast at Catch restaurant sitting at the bar. The bartender was awesome and the 2 locals sitting next to us were a blast to hang out with as well. Tried a few ounces of the A5 Wagyu which was a cool experience. Was back for a day then we took the kids to Chicago. After having both I have to say Lou Malnatti's > Giordano's.

It's more like Lou's >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Everyone else

I havent seen Nice Guys, but I love anything Gosling is in.

Gosling is so good. His physical comedy chops are unreal and him and his “daughter” play really well off each other. I’ve seen it at least a dozen times and it never fails to make me laugh. I’m surprised you haven’t seen it, tbh. It gets compared to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang a lot, but I think TNG is loads better.  It’s on Hulu, at least with a sub anyways.

ive never seen Inherent Vice but might have to now.

Yeah, Lou's is pretty freakin strong on the Chicago style front.

KKBB is a good one too. I rewatched Lucky Number Slevin the other night with the wife, her first time seeing it. I had kinda forgotten how much I enjoyed it the first time I saw it. She got a kick out of it and, since I knew the twist, I was happy just watching Lucy Liu in her prime (yes I realize she was in her upper 30s during that movie but damn if she doesn't prove the stereo type about asian women and aging).

I encourage you to check out both of these titles. IV has Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, with a cameo from pornstar Belladonna (in a non-nude role but there is some decent nudity in it if that helps sell you on viewing it). LNS has the aforementioned Lucy Liu, Ben Kingsley, Morgan Freeman, and Bruce Willis.

Even recent Lucy Liu in Elementary can get it as far as I’m concerned.

and I didn’t mean to be disrespectful to KKBB…I think it’s a great movie, but I just never have the thought that I need to watch it again. Although I do think of “look up idiot in a dictionary…you know what you’ll find?” “A picture of me?” “No…the definition of the word idiot which you fvcking are!” often.

which, speaking of, I just read a review of Val’s new doc and I didn’t realize his cancer was so bad that he can’t really talk anymore without plugging his neck hole. Damn shame.

I've seen Inherent Vice twice, and I really want to like it, but for some reason PTA doesn't click with me.  I really enjoyed Punch Drunk Love and obviously love There Will Be Blood, but haven't really liked any of his other films.

I didn't know that about Val.  I'm going to watch that doc asap.

Loved loved loved Season 1.

pretty meh on season 2 so far although this last ep was better.

Just feels like everybody is already caricatures of themselves which usually doesn’t happen until like season 6 of shows.

also I saw the Val doc “Val” is on prime if you really want to watch it.

I noticed this last night after the wife and I finished season 2 of Portrait Artist of the Year and told her that I heard from Napa that I need to watch that.  She agreed it sounded good.  We will watch it soon.

Oh no, I make no recommendations on it. I have not watched it and probably won’t ever.

A writer I follow wrote a review on it that I read and was bummed to hear about his throat cancer is all. Apparently he was doing his one man Mark Twain show around the country in hopes of getting funding to make it into a screenplay when his cancer got so bad so that dream is gone. It’s apparently almost entirely behind the scenes footage Val shot himself over the years.

Edit: unless it’s really good, than I did recommend it because I have impeccable taste.
