Only hooligans without respect for others do things like that - like my neighbor who brought a screaming child home at midnight last night. And I'm like " are you serious? I can't get in an Uber soaking wet". And then they offered to walk the boat to shore and I'm like fine, **** it, but I'm not getting in the water. I didn't even want to come but you talked me into it because you said we'd only be a few hours." And now everybody's leaving and I'm the *******. I'm with your friends on this one. And shore was within swimming distance but I didn’t have a change of clothes for the Uber. They’re the ones who changed the plans and then wouldn’t work with me on a reasonable solution. I already told my boss I’m not interested in having to spend the next year auditioning for a chance to maybe get to keep my job and that’s exactly what this feels like. Especially if they want to retain the other analyst, too. That’s a no for me, dawg. No way would I sign up to work with him again. Edit: in positive news, my buddy in Vegas cashed another tourney for $2500 the other day so that’s another $125 for me. He’s currently playing the $1,500 WSOP event. If I moved back, that is probably where I would live. Central to where my family lives, easy drive to Lawrence, etc. I currently live in a place that has a similar level of traffic, more frequently, and it’s not a big deal to just plan around it. No one else was consulted. I am in a tough spot, because the CEO basically promised me a much higher ceiling when I took this role. So I’m gonna sit down with him and explain the situation, and try to communicate that I don’t want to burn bridges with my boss, but that I’m not in this to be a 9-5, middling employee. I think my boss just anchors to salary ranges, and resents that my last group is so much better compensated than she ever was. Truth is, she doesn’t have any designations and can’t write code. SuitedAces21 2,722 Posted July 9, 2018 Share Posted July 9, 2018 the problem is most people are morons. like 95% of people. and obviously that is going to include almost every boss you're ever going to have. it includes all of mine so far and probably ever one i'll have until i move to the legal department, but even then it's still no guarantee. i'm not entirely sure what strat's job is at this firm, but i don't think he is a financial adviser (meaning up front sales guy) so he is going to be undervalued. the only people that seem to matter in this business are the "sales" guys and no matter how bad they are at actually selling the get compensated more than us because they are great at BSing some moron manager. it's a sad world we live in. (We worked at U-Haul together and I had to walk him through filling out a rental contract so many times that I ended up moving him to another job completely because he just couldn't do it right.) Advisors aren’t overly empowered at my firm, because they’re all constrained by a non-solicitation everyone had to sign a year ago. They included verbiage in the non-solicitation specifically targeting my code. I was flattered. Total nonsense, completely unenforceable unless it’s a client on the record saying you called them.
