and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

I mean, yeah, I guess. I was given a project yesterday where I basically just need to slice and dice some data and I did a mock up today and the other analyst seemed really impressed so that was nice. I also had a meeting with one of the managers I'll be supporting a lot and he seemed like a really good dude who was really adamant about making sure I knew to not just be a yes man if they data is saying otherwise. What wasn't great was him running down 12+ open projects that all seemingly need to be done in the next month which will be fun. What also isn't great is the fact that we don't have actual computers, just virtual machines, which A) I can't stunt on them with my j crew computer bag B) it's crazy slow when trying to do any type of large data set analysis and C) I'm not able to take my computer home at night to try and get up to speed with stuff. And the office is too far away to come home, let the dog out and stuff and then go back there. And my dog also means I can't stay super late without dumping him onto my roommates. But then I think about my paychecks and I feel a little better.

Well, thanks for only implicitly saying that my dog, which has not only been my single source of joy but also the sole non-work reason I left my apartment 95% of the time for the past year, is a drain on my career, I guess.

I wasn't trying to say "get rid of the dog," just that moving closer to work, and into a place with almost no maintenance commitments, has been great. I know you don't want a condo, etc. but in hindsight it was a great call for my work/life balance. I had had a cigar and a bunch of bourbon, so I was not very articulate... sorry.

I was just being an ass, sorry.

Ideally, I would live closer to work (I'm 19 miles now) but the cost ($450ish/month) and flexibility to leave whenever and also the location in proximity to other friends and stuff to do is perfect and worth the slight inconvenience. My morning commute is about 25 minutes. My evening has been right around 45 but one of the two main roads is under construction until October so that should help shorten the time but then I drive the other roads and can only think it's a matter of time before they have to be redone so maybe not.

UNRELATED

On our company homepage we have a little "dashboard" with gauges showing budget to accruals for revenue, expense, and net income. We're ahead of budget for rev and NI so it's showing a gold star but for expense even though we're less expense than budgeted it's not showing a gold star even though I think it should.

Yeah Napa, put that fcking dog down and work more hours for the same money. What are you thinking?

A 25 minute commute is nothing.

If you have the only dog in the house, I would make sure to have a hugely open dialogue with your roommates about their occasional help with him. I had a roommate that had a dog, and I was left with a lot of the work, and it irritated me, as I love dogs and wasn't gonna ignore him.

I know you will, as you're very thoughtful.

but I don't want to take advantage.

This is why you'll never be CEO. Take those rubes for all you can and move on. They're going to disappoint you anyways, might as well beat them to the punch.

it's starting to get hot out there. i just do not do well in the heat. sadly, ronny, i don't think i could ever live in florida with you.

i was just cleaning my kitchen, and i pulled the drain stopper thing from the side of the sink where you soak dishes or whatever, which i never do, and holy shit it smelled like a rotting corpse. i guess some water got in there and i put the stopper over it and must have left it simmering in there for months. i nearly puked from the smell, but a lot of clorox and some persistence and it's back to normal. good lesson for me in that somewhere.

i'm thinking casino tonight. gonna catch some cards in tilty's memory.

You guys don't change at all huh. damn. Irregardless, I'm getting married in a week. I don't know but I'm assuming speedz is already married but I'm sure my marriage will be better than his. Because I'm better.

But yeah, hi. I'd give some advice but nobody would take it.

I'm just kidding I don't have any advice. Don't be a loser I guess?

How are you always lurking in the shadows, BigD? That's impressive.
