and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

I promise you will never be lying on your death bed wishing you worked more. Take your freaking time off.

We have GOT to get you a girlfriend. Or a boyfriend for that matter.

Hey, we all need friends in here. I could be a friend to you.

This was really good and really well timed.

I had this idea a week ago, about how many things it should trigger when an appointment is set with a client, and how horrible our system is at getting the word out when that happens. basically, we have all these specialists, and none of them are directly plugged into / able to leverage all the decentralized data we have (relying on others to be superhumanly proactive). every other company has systems to facilitate cross-selling, but we just don't push it for some reason. so, this last week, I polled all the specialist areas to figure out what data points are necessary for them to find and crash the relevant appointments, and designed a platform of sorts in Excel to generate all the reports for upcoming meetings on a weekly basis. it snowballed out of control, and I now have this enormous pool of data, and an efficient way to build infinite reports.

doing this stuff is rewarding enough, but everyone's reaction during the process--like they're watching something exciting happening--is super entertaining. I'm just looking for edges. it really is no more sexy than grinding sit n go poker, getting to high Elo in league of legends, etc. dollars laying on the ground.

Brvy I think I've got a solution for your sheet but just know that I think entering the requests on one page and then actuals on another is bad design.

Then make it better! Come on, man, what do I pay you for!?

Full disclosure: This is for my old boss. It was just easier to ask in the first person.

Isn't it the responsibility of the adviser to know which specialist to bring to any particular meeting?

It absolutely is, but for whatever reason it isn't happening unless some event has forced it to the top of the advisor's mind. For the majority of our relationships, the specialist being an option is a relatively new concept, so some of the benefit is the "fresh eyes" factor.

If Jake throws a no-hitter tonight, I will be very jealous of the fans that were there and got to see it live.

On one hand I want the Cubs to win because then I wouldn't have to hear about the curse bullshit anymore and all these f'n fans that have built their entire identity on being the lovable losers will now have to face reality and realize they aren't special and are unremarkably average.

And on the other I want them to lose because I'd enjoy watching these fans drop to the lowest of lows after getting their hopes sky high and blowing it.
