Edit: Ha, OL/DR

If I could cut my own hair and have it turn out good I totally would. It's just that my head is so large and my hair so fine and my face so dumb that any type of simple, short haircut has me looking like a giant Bobby Hill.

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

Yeah, if you're not styling it even a little, and it's all one length, fire away.

The last pic i saw of Strat from Twitter, he won't need to worry about haircuts for much longer anyway

Damn, shot across the receding brow.

I hate getting haircuts. I need to before Vegas, but not so bad it's a must. So I probably won't. Damn lazy bastard I am.

Speaking of Vegas, anyone been to a club out there? We're going to Drais. I'm not excited at all for it. Clubs aren't my scene, man.

all indications are that I am not losing any more hair, just naturally have this hairline. I remember worrying about it years ago, when I first started posting here.

that shit about it being a gene from the maternal grandfather doesn't appear to be the case for me--my hair situation mirrors my dad's dad's. my mom's dad was completely bald by his 20s.

I know nobody really cares about these details but it is a really odd situation.

The stuff about balding being specifically connected through a particular parent/grandparent is a myth. Like, there's a genetic component certainly, but it's not like precisely "maternal grandfather". My paternal grandfather had never had any balding, paternal grandmother's father never had balding, but my dad and my dad's brother have both had balding. Looking like my brother and I won't deal with it - though I've always been a little paranoid and had a small brief scare of alopecia areata maybe 8 years ago. We don't know what my mom's genetic history is due to her being adopted. Oh, my sister did do one of those genetic tests recently that confirmed we're mostly Scottish/English...but surprisingly there was also the tiniest amount of Japanese.

As for haircuts, I have clippers and cut it myself every other haircut...basically just a long buzz. If I want it styled at all, I go somewhere cheap.

On the frugality front, have battled on not getting a second crib. I just think it's kind of unnecessary expense/hassle. The 19 month old will be out of her crib soon (we got a free toddler bed yesterday actually), and the 8 month old has a pack n' play that works just as well for the time being.

It is kind of funny that Strat is too frugal to treat himself to a haircut, but has more money tied up in bourbon than most people his age have in savings.

It's not hard to find stylists who make house calls. Having someone show up at the office to cut your hair while you work would be a baller move.

Dry cleaning delivery to the office is another mini baller move.

How much does the average 30 year old have in savings? Strat has what, 5k in liqueur?

I have probably spent $5k on liquor in the last two years, drank a small portion of it. I could check mint.com but I think $5k is a fair number.

the average 30 year old has no savings and is at least a decade away from having any, I would say.

Damn, that would suck. I guess I should stop bitching about being underpaid.

Well, you make a very solid wage and couple that with having almost no frivolous spending, and I'm not making a dig here, but socializing, going out to dinner, women and drinking are money drains. You don't do much of that. So, you make good money, are relatively frugal and smart. Financially, you're doing it right.

That being said...

Thanks Ronny. I'm blowing some cash in Vegas next week for sure. That'll be a dent.

My only advice is this. Do it with the right attitude. You already seem Iike you're miserable about the trip

Be in the moment, embrace the experience, experience it all, take it as an adventure.

You gotta approach it as a "cost of entertainment" expense. I wonder if I still have the number for the escort I could provide to you....

I enjoyed the Wynn buffet. I think you might too since it's not overwhelming with choices but they had some really tasty dishes and their lamb was perfectly cooked, tender, and delicious. Stop by the craps tables and look for a gray haired dealer named "Ray" from NYC. He was my craps yoda. Ran $100 into $500 and a comp from the pit boss in about an hour. I must've made about $100-150 for the dealers too by betting for them instead of straight tipping. That was some heater.
