Napa Lite 3,278
Fine, $17k. I have no furniture other than my bed. I have a vacuum and pots and pans and 6 glasses. And a tv. What if I have to buy appliances? Even if I go used its still $1k minimum.
Napa Lite 3,278
Yeah, let's just ignore PMI and property taxes and insurance and cost of upkeep and the fact that I hope to not live in this state within the next two years.
Napa Lite 3,278
Also, this is all moot anyways since I don't have even $10k in savings. (YEAH I KNOW)
JubilantLankyLad 1,957
LOL at buying a house for $170k. Zero chance I pay less than $400k when I buy (unless there's a major crash in the next 18 months). $450k is far more likely.
Napa Lite 3,278
$170k will get a 2-3br/2ba 1,200 sq ft (+basement) with a decent lot in a good neighborhood here. Nice if you have the cash.
The Ocho 970
Yeah, let's just ignore PMI and property taxes and insurance and cost of upkeep and the fact that I hope to not live in this state within the next two years. Get a roommate. Idiot. $500/mo. + half of utilities. Now your less than your apartment
Napa Lite 3,278
I DON'T WANT A ROOMMATE. THATS WHY IM HAVING SUCH A HARD TIME FINDING AN APARTMENT
Essay21 2,385
What Napa needs is a wife. She should be a nurse, make 52k and love to snuggle. No worries on the mortgage then.

I paid 400k (Canadian) for my latest place, and it's nothing special.
The Ocho 970
Nurse is very high in my roommate and i's spousal power rankings. Nurse aint bad. Flexible schedule. Gone nights some times, lets you have some life separation. Helps when you have kids too.
Napa Lite 3,278
Yeah, and 50k is on the way low end for what they make, too.

Napa_Don 688
Sold my old desk for $40 tonight. Sucker. I was going to sell it to somebody for $20 yesterday just to get it gone but they didn't show. Dude didn't even try to haggle.
Tiltinagain 973
One of the reasons we moved out of CA in 2001 was the realization that we weren't going to be able to buy a house here anytime soon as they were all $300k plus even then. The house we are currently renting would probably cost $329k or so to buy and it's a 4/2 at about 1800 square feet. The house we bought in WA was $175k for the same 4bd, 2 ba and 1800 sq ft but on a lot almost twice the size. Tough to make any money in Spokane though.
InternetExplorer 2,609
Now you'll be more unhappy. http://www.seriousea...mapen-deal.html $69 seems really stupid

InternetExplorer 2,609
I got to ask someone on our tax team today, "are you $20 million sure?" I am working on unwinding this enormous loss harvest I set up a month ago. getting real tired of watching the market go straight up.
Tiltinagain 973
Well I found a $5 bill in the parking lot last night so I can validate the rise in the market.
Essay21 2,385
Anyone have hot weekend plans? I need to do a bunch of work so I'm likely in office all Sunday. Saturday I might pop over to the outlets, see what kind of deal I can find on sweaters for work. I'm a sweater guy, and there's no going back.
Napa Lite 3,278
Going to the game tomorrow with my roommate and other friends. Sunday pops might come down and put the motorcycle back together and hopefully get that bitch sold.
Tiltinagain 973
We're having a bunch of family over tomorrow for Halloween. My nephews live out in the country so they'll be able to trick or treat around our neighborhood. Going to make a big batch of chili and some zuppa tuscana soup for everybody. Not sure otherwise.
