and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

That makes it all the more appealing. Go super over the top, and never stop running your mouth. Act like you are trying to have an alpha stand off with the whole table. I mean, she isn't going to sleep with you, but it's fun. She doesn't even need to be attractive, it just gives you a medium for behaving like a Winner.

need to get him some coke.

Nope. But we don't have full casinos. It's primarily just card rooms. That's why I asked. I assumed they are hitting full casinos. Is that only a Vegas thing? Heck, am I remembering wrong? Vegas still does, correct? It was May 2011 since I was there

yes. vegas still does this. however, they have cut back on the number of servers so the drinks don't come around quickly as they used to.

No casinos around here comp drinks, either. Big liability thing since most people are driving distances to/from the casino.

Also, my office is basically like Strat described. Senior management has actual offices. Everyone else is cubicle.

when i used to play a lot at the horseshoe the best time of the week was thursday nights from about midnight until 8 or 9 the next morning. they legally have to have all booze off the floor at 2 am so last call is usually about 1:15 so they can make the laps and pull empties/unattendeds. usually the floorman would buy the first round when they started serving again in the morning.

I should also mention that in a casual conversation with my bosses boss this afternoon she mentioned something about a asking me if I wanted a sr level position that will be opening up. supposed to talk about it tomorrow. didn't expect that. still don't expect much, but good news I guess.

things are starting to come up sh... no, no they're probably not.

Shake won't accept less than $30 an hour. When the hell did that happen? He'll only accept double his salary to change jobs now?

Also, Bud Light? I mean, I realize you are Midwest brainwashed, but c'mon Essay, that stuff is urine. Platty's i can support, but that might be the only Bud product I'll tolerate. Bud really owns the Midwest. Why is that?

I can only speak for WA, ID and CA casinos but none of them offer free alcohol. Of course most of the ones I've played in are indian casino's so I always figured that played a part. The main casino I played at in WA was 18+ when I first started going and didn't even offer alcohol. About a year or two later they kicked out the kids and started selling booze. Probably doubled their profits.

Shake, if they offer you $30 ish an hour, LOL, you cannot turn that down. Work it for a couple of years, pay your aunt for the other half of the property you want and move on to a job with real hours and a salary history on your resume that new employers will have to match/beat.

OK, so cheaper options some are sporty some are classy. Thoughts

I like the first one best. What do you need all the other stuff for?

I just use my phone haven't had a watch in years.

I am trying to use my phone less. I don't like how I check out of different situations and stare at it.

There was a time when the sound of coins jingling in your pockets was a sign of wealth. It's almost beautiful and poetic how simple and shallow that is. It's like audio-bling, but much more literal in its presentation. I need to do it with krugerrands or something. Maybe a framed Berkshire Hathaway stock certificate on a chain.

That's kind of like rich people jiggling round peanuts in their hands in old timey movies. Last weekend's comedy night had a bit about that, and that guy was right. I want more of the peanut tossers in my day to day.

...artisan cheeses.

Yes, I would like to hear more. What cheeses, what kind of cutting board, and how many types of crackers.

Well, I didn't have sex with BC after the wedding if that's what you're all wondering. I'll hire a sky writer in all your respective cities to let you know if I ever do.

I want to make clear not all of us want you to have sex with BC, even if it's offered on a silver p platter.

Come help me out because I'm running out of time trying to get shit cleaned up by the end of the month so we look good when the auditors come in three months.

Why don't we talk about this? Napa, I know you're feeling as satisfied as you can with your job situation. The truth is, if your company's client's get audited they're effed. Not your fault man, you're a junior employee, too many people are responsible for the financial health, etc.

What you can control is your suit, sock, and watch choices for the days when you have to dance for the outside auditor. Do you have an obvious front runner?

I definitely have a wardrobe for when I'm meeting with donors, formally and informally.

I've also made deliberate clothing choices for internal meetings. I work with a guy who is from Asia, and has lived here for 30+ years. I know he's from Asia not because of his accent, but because he's told me. He's shitty and dismissive to me, and the other employees (including my internal power broker) have told me with a straight face Asian Employee is incapable of really working with women because of cultural differences. Lezbhonest, that really pissed me off.

So! I don't have to work with him that often, but when I do, it's in a small office with a lot of discussion. I have made every effort to wear tight dresses or tight pants each and every time I have to work with this guy. I'm better at some of the data/software stuff, and with intent, I deliberately invade his personal space, and watch him just squirm out of his own skin. My title is better than his, I might be making more than him, and sometimes it just feels good to be me.

Roommates brother has a concert downtown Friday. Friends parents anniversary party Saturday night. Probably helping my brother do something Sunday. Busy weekend coming up.

MILFs?

WILFs--I can't be the only Veep fan here, right?

Where's my gal pal Frau? Hope her day went well.

Thank you for the thought. I believe there is a special place in heaven for the unexpected $10K donor. Is there a Calvinist on this board? Is Brvhrt the best pipeline directly to the Baby Jesus? Someone with some direct knowledge of the ecstasies of the afterlife need to weigh in, because we got an unexpected $50K yesterday, so we need to rope off a celestial champagne room.

Follow-up news: that video art project I participated in continues to move forward. I've been asked to submit a short bio with a head shot. (They didn't say headshot, but they asked for a photo of me, from chest high, against a white backdrop.) I want to be in this thing so bad, it's shocking. I really want it to be exhibited somewhere. If that happens, if I'm in an art piece that's exhibited somewhere with legitimacy, that might be the apex of my LA-ness.

Food/celebrity sighting: Wolfgang Puck yesterday at the Santa Monica farmer's market. He's corny now, but Spago is still a serious place to work, and he absolutely changed the way Americans eat. (He only carries small baskets of picturesque produce. The bigger stuff is handled by staff.)

Weekend plans: My friend's husband works at a winery, so she got me an invite to the LA WineFest, as well as to a private dinner hosted by said winery at fancy restaurant.

Future plans: I have three sets of visitors within six weeks. The first is an old friend who's coming in for the E3. He's not staying with me, and I hope we have time to meet up for food or drink.

I can still be swayed but I think I disagree with frau on the sexing of BC topic. I get her point on one hand but I can't help but feel like Napster needs to get it in her at least once. And then finish before she gets there, immediately get up, get dressed, give her the old "peace out!" and never speak to her again.

Bonus time is coming again. (Actually it's 2 months late as this is the 1st quarter bonus). $5500 coming home to daddy.

Unfortunately a too large chunk of that (I assume) is going to go into fixing the A/C in my truck.

Frau, I have watched and liked Veep since day 1. I forget what WILF is though.

Also enjoyed the story of you messing with Asian. If you got it, you might as well use it. Good on you

Do card rooms in SoFl offer that? I've played in black chip games where they didn't comp booze.

Having been accustomed to Vegas, I was shocked upon ordering a rum & coke at Hard Rock down here and hearing, "That'll be $8." I have never ordered alcohol at a Florida casino again.

Is there a Calvinist on this board?

Sort of. Raised Presbyterian...realized I didn't like the fatalism and trended Baptist...eventually came back around a little but still don't like Calvin.

And this reminds me that I want to shamelessly plug this short film that I was in. (Got screened on Wednesday at a classy movie theater...kind of surreal experience seeing oneself on a big screen.)

Played in a shady homegame, 5cd, lost aces full to four 2s.

I had been warned.

What does 5cd mean?

5 called?

Oldest came in and woke us up at 2am crying from lower back pain. Got up and shook the cobwebs out and came to realization that this wasn't just an over dramatization so I took her to the ER. Kidney stones. "Only" took 3 hours in and out but not worth going back to bed before I have to be up for work anyway so I'm mainlining coffee. Going to be a fun day.

First off, have a fun weekend. Second, I'm definitely a Calvinist. That's a weird thing for a non-religious person to mention though. What was the significance in this case?

Re: Cheeses

I don't really eat artisan cheeses. Sorry to disappoint. I do buy the nicer block cheese though that's somewhat expensive and shred it or cut off some slices now and then but I'd hardly call it artisan.

Re: BC

That's a whole 'nother post on it's own, but I appreciate the concern.

Re: Auditors

This isn't an audit because we're in trouble. Just your standard yearly financial statement audit. Like what I used to do.

Unfortunately(fortunately?) we're not a very formal business attire place and neither are our auditors. So, absolutely no need for me to wear a suit. And in all actuality, the subsidiary I do the accounting for is such a small part of the overall company's business that I might have to talk to the auditors for five minutes.

But I take pride in my work and want my books to be as correct as possible and the previous person in my role did not share the same sentiment, and so there's a lot of things to cleanup.

They won't be here for another three months though which is a little far out for me to be planning my outfits. Best believe I will be stuntin' on them as much as I reasonable can.

For casual Friday today though I am wearing a royal blue v neck, straight fit lived in khakis, my new seiko watch with a leather NATO strap, and some air Jordan 1's in the true blue colorway. Fresh to death

Re: Your Work Asian

I will quote two of my favorite poets

"Fifty told me go head switch the style up and if they hate, let them hate, and watch the money pile up...the good life"

"Sometimes I laugh with Brv about how you can't stop me".

Reddits addition of TwoXChromosones as a default sub has really helped bring the difficulties of being a woman to light to me and while I disagree/question a lot that gets posted it's certainly eye-opening. Like, the post about how it seems to be a pretty normal thing for women to passively engage a creeper at the bar because of fear. That sucks that that happens and I don't know what what I can personally do about it. Like, I don't want to john Wayne my way up to the bar and ask if we've got a problem here and make it seem like I don't think she can't handle herself and needs to be "white knighted" but I also don't want this to just happen and not do anything if she really needs help. And like, am I part of the problem if I approach a girl and offer to buy her a drink? Fvck. I don't know. Help me out here Frau. You're one of the few women I can trust to give me an impartial view without worrying about hurting my feelings.
