If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

Why would you go to something like this?

Because her parents (and their friends) love me and there will be free booze. And who am I to deny the people what they want, Ron?

If you play lower stakes, there might be some girls at the table. Drink and hit on them while you play. It's like a party and a poker game in one. Or, for even more fun, find some TAGgy pros, **** with their blinds, needle them about every pot they don't win, and enjoy their meltdown.

There's been a good looking lady at the table a few times when I've been playing. The attention she recieved from every d bag there makes it impossible for me to talk to her. Not that I would anyways.

That makes it all the more appealing. Go super over the top, and never stop running your mouth. Act like you are trying to have an alpha stand off with the whole table. I mean, she isn't going to sleep with you, but it's fun. She doesn't even need to be attractive, it just gives you a medium for behaving like a Winner.

Your boss works out of a cubical? Is this like a boiler room telemarketing scam or something?

at my old work, everyone, except maybe the guy who managed the entire building, had a cubicle. where you worked looked more and more like an office the further you got up the chain, but at the end of the day, everyone was in a cube.

Free booze isnt THAT important to me. I need atmosphere, but hey, thats just me. You have fun napa, i support you, always.

Suited, poker is a lonely game, so no, that doesnt count. I just want more for ya buddy, but you can only work within your limitations. I too, support you. I do like Sklansky's premise, go play poker, get buzzed-bombed and be the life of the table. Does your poker room offer free drinks? If not, buy the only girl at the table a glass of tap water

Do card rooms in SoFl offer that? I've played in black chip games where they didn't comp booze.

That's so depressing. The idea of spending most of my life at a job is already not my scene, but at least there is kind of good vibe you might get from imagining yourself as Don Draper or something. With that setup, there isn't even any hope that you might someday have enough context to imagine that.

Nope. But we don't have full casinos. It's primarily just card rooms. That's why I asked. I assumed they are hitting full casinos. Is that only a Vegas thing? Heck, am I remembering wrong? Vegas still does, correct? It was May 2011 since I was there

Hey I get bad social anxiety Ronald and so sometimes it's nice to have a low key night where I can just shoot the shit with friends, which is what this will be. Not every night has to end up with me chasing big girls with some stranger I just met.

Most casino have comp schedules for poker, but I don't think they are anything as juicy as what a table gamer would get. They certainly aren't actively trying to get you drunk like they do with the table games.

No casinos around here comp drinks, either. Big liability thing since most people are driving distances to/from the casino.

Also, my office is basically like Strat described. Senior management has actual offices. Everyone else is cubicle.

You'd be cooler if it did.

I'm teasing. Having fun is most important

not anywhere. no comped drinks whatsoever, that i know of.

like nap said, with every guest driving it would be imprudent to give away booze. instead they charge 5 bucks for a beer and people fork it over hand over fist to get at that sweet bud light.

our first level team leaders are in cubes but pretty much anybody above them are in offices. I am, of course, in the smallest cube possible.

so not to pull a strat but let's change the subject back to me: that job I interviewed for today, I don't really think I would like it all things considered, and really I seriously doubt they'd offer it to me, but figuring with the overtime they said I'd regularly work and at $30 an hour which would be the minimum I'd accept, that shit would be over 90 grand a year. that ain't a bad amount of scratch. it'd be a tough one to turn down I know that. cross that bridge when I get to it (I won't get to it).
