I Called In Sick Today

well we're going to charlotte so it will be a decent sized city, but yeah, Ive seen them in smaller places too. I dont think its so much to block fakes as it is to keep the idiots working the door honest and to keep them from making math mistakes.magnet idea would be good but its a barcode on the back that they're scanning.
Are you sure that's what's going on? I thought the scanner / recorder thing was to take pictures of all IDs that came through the door, not to verify it's an actual ID. I could be wrong though, or we could be talking about two different things. I can't believe you can't get an ID (driver's license or just ID card) from the DMV or somewhere in time. My original joke was going to be "You don't need a passport to leave the state of Virginia" but apparently in Shake's case, you do.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

He's talking about the bar code scanner that verifies real ID and age. Most real state IDs now have bar codes on them. Real states, not real IDs. Well, real IDs too. And Virginia.

Heh, *turns license over* well look at that, a bar code.I have only had my card swiped at the Windsor Casino and at the Rite - Aid when I buy sudafed to make meth cure my sinus headache. Never had had the bar code read though. Didn't know it was even there till now. Not like I get carded much anyway being old and stupid and all.

Please don't do a pizza chain poll. It will come down to the same thing as the regular restaurant chain poll...all of them are horrible compared to good local places, so who cares which is the worst of the worst.
Maybe some other kind of chain poll?

I had to do the whole paper license and expired license with a punch in it while waiting for my new one and I got into bars fine. Of course it is, Iowa and not some redneck hellhole state like North Carolina. Plus, aren't licenses still valid like a month after the expiration date on them? As long as you don't run into some bouncer with an large-inferiority complex, I assume you'll be good.

ok, god damn it, well I guess thats not an option either. remember this morning when I said I had a bachelor party to go to this weekend? well as Im driving to work this morning I remember that I forgot to renew my license by my birthday last week, so now my license is expired. since VA doesnt print licenses in the dmv anymore, theres no way for me to get a valid license by saturday, and without one I won't be able to get into any clubs (already called one and they said no way, no exceptions). so I was hoping maybe I could get a passport really quickly and that would work but I guess not. god damn it this is fucking idiotic.
first thoughts: So, this means Shake has never been out of the country? I guess that's for the best.second thoughts: I wonder where "I need it to go clubbing in Charlotte" ranks on the all-time most unlikely reasons for needing a rushed U.S. Passport. I'm pretty sure if you told them that was the reason, the CIA would flag you as a potential security risk.

well I talked to the dude organizing this thing and he said none of these clubs have scanners, so my only real worry is the guy actually looking at the expiration date and then being a dick about it. I don't know, to not let a man see titties because because a one week expired license... nobody could be that cruel could they? I have decided, though, that if they do block me, I'm going to go on a tirade about being able to adopt a baby with the amount of identification I have and they won't let me see titties, then end with me pulling out my phone which will be opened to youporn while I scream "look! titties right here!"

"look! titties right here!"
You're going with a large group of guys, all of whom are well over 21. No bouncer is going to give you shit about an expired ID, especially with a paper backup.

Sorry but you do indeed need a valid license to adopt. So don't use that.

Anybody have Apple TV? Thinking about getting it - reviews seem good, but our wireless can be slow sometimes and I wonder if that will f with the streaming.
It's expensive if it's a main source of your TV/Movie watching, but I've had no problems with it beyond that. It essentially does exactly what you think it will.

I have it. Pretty good for netflix streaming, and youtube. Agree with Dink that if you plan to rent a lot of shows and movies from apple that can get expensive. One nice feature is that any movie or music you can play in iTunes you can stream up to the appletv. I use that feature quite a bit... take some video on the iPhone and stream it onto the tv with no transferring for example.

My wallet was either lost or stolen on my walk home from work. According to BofA, someone tried to buy $200 worth of metro cards using my debit card. I was having a pretty lousy day and this really didn't seem to help things.

Well, the good news is that you're not going to actually lose any money. Unless you had cash. But who carries a lot of cash these days?Other than beans. I bet he carries a lot of cash.

I had about $35 and a $40 metrocard, but that's not that big a deal. The most annoying part is getting my driver's license back. I have to go to Connecticut where I'm registered, and I don't have an ID until I do (unless I want to carry around my passport).

Is there a reason why you don't want the government to know that you live in New York?

They know I live in NY since I vote here, but I took my driver's test in CT. If I wanted a New York license, wouldn't I have to retake the test in NY?

I've had licenses in multiple states and have never had to retake the test. But I guess NY might be bitchy about it.

When you say drivers test are you saying that you got into a car and drove them around to get your license? Just curious. I see that in TV/Movies but in my 23 years of driving the only thing I have ever done is take the written test to get my license and to renew it every 4 years.
