Governator 54
Current Desktop Resolution: 3840x1024I recently bought a Gateway Laptop, only 15.4" but it's very nice. I dont see the need of getting a LAPTOP larger then that unless it's meant to be a desktop replacement. If you are looking for 3+ monitor hookup why on earth are you looking for a laptop? If money is no object to you, get a new desktop and a laptop.
thrillsoft 0
Jordan,Looks like ours are the same except the display I have is:17 inch UltraSharp Wide ScreenXGA+ Display for Inspiron 9300 The video card that I have appears to be the same as yours. I wonder if I can upgrade the screen. My overlap isn't bad. Just I expected with a screen this big that I'd be able to not have any overlap like you.thanks

In order to multitable four games without overlap, your monitors optimal resolution must be 1600 x 1200 or greater. "Optimal Resolution" is the setting in which your monitor displays the desktop as an entire image in that when you move the mouse/cursor to a border edge, it stops. Now if you have a monitor whose optimal resolution is say 1280 x 800 and you change the setting of your graphics card to 1600 x 1200, YOU WILL NOT be able to multitable without overlap. What will happen is that the tables will display past the edges of your monitor and when you move the cursor to the edge, the entire view will shift over thus obscuring part of another table.I bought a Dell 9300 last November after doing my homework. In order to multitable, you MUST have the UltraSharp Widescreen with TrueLife monitor. The optimal resolution of this monitor is 1920 x 1200. You could also find an acceptable monitor on the Dell 6000, which is a smaller laptop with a 15.4" display as opposed to the 9300's 17". My Dell works great by the way.To sum it up, whether you buy a laptop or a home system, the Optimal Resolution of your display must be 1600 x 1200 or larger to multitable four games at once with no overlap. Hope this helps.
zimmer4141 0
I also have a Dell Inspiron 9300, which allows me a resolution of 1920x1200, and I can have 4 tables without overlap.

chrozzo 19
WHat is everyone using? Which brands and prices are the best value. I Have shopped dell because of coupon but need to know what size screen other specs that are necessary in order to play multitables. I have a desktop but need something for poker that the wife won't play on all day.
Dratj 0
So, does the computer automatically set up the four tables without overlap if you have a comp with 1600x1200 res or better? or is there something special you have to do?

Im not necessarily looking for a 3+ monitor hookup, more like 2 monitors. And its not like I can afford a computer that costs 10 grand, Im just saying I dont need to find some great deal. swank 0
I've always had problem after problem with dell machines, including home machines, and work machines that I supported. I can't tell you how many power supplies I've had to replace over the years. For a laptop, I'd suggest Fujitsu or Toshiba hands down. Excellent laptops, average price (no crazy IBM thinkpad markup), and very portable. Fujitsu makes lappies that range from 11" screens up to wide screen beasts, so no matter what you want to do, they've got an option available for you.cheers~J
ROGUE06 0
SONY VAIO laptops are really nice but very expensive and overpriced.
PotemkinCity 1
i bought a Toshiba Satellite A70 with a 15.4" and I must say, it is an amazing machine, I do NOT reccomennd getting one with a Celeron processor, junk, go for a pentium 4, from what I have heard through numerous friends of mine, they are quite unsatisfied with Dell on the customer service end of things, they say the machines are good, but when they are broken, it is like the neverending story trying to get them fixed and getting someone on the phone who knows anything is damn near impossible.I got mine from future shop, and i recommend getting one from a high end electronics store like this, and go for they're in store warranty, mine is covered for 5 years and as soon as my repairs are going to cost more than the machine cost me, they give me a BRAND NEW ONE. as far as my specs, i can look those up later and post. from what i've read on the internet, Toshiba is almost the way to go.one thing that bugs me about laptops, the small friggin keys, god damn i hate these keys. Wandigo 1
If you're interested, I'm trying to sell my laptop. I bought it a few years back for $999 and used it just for my schoolwork and to play games/poker during my breaks. However, I'm graduating college this May and won't need it anymore. I'm selling the laptop, carrying case, wireless network card, and wireless mouse all for $550.It's a Toshiba Satelite with an Intel Celeron 1.4ghz processor, 256mb ram and a DVD/CD-RW combo drive. It has Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Office Professional on it.Shipping shouldn't be that expensive if you're in the US. Lemme know if you want more details.
