Seven Card Stud Hi $0.50-$1 (real money)Seat 1: Player A ($76.55 in chips)Seat 2: Player B ($54.65 in chips)Seat 3: Player C ($30.20 in chips)Seat 4: Hero ($27.25 in chips)Seat 5: Player D ($15.35 in chips)Seat 10: Villain ($17.15 in chips)No real info on anyone else at the table, except to say that I was very surprised at the lack of people that completed on third this hand. I've been sitting for about 5 minutes now, haven't voluntarily put any money in the pot as of yet and am down almost $3 (that will be the topic of another post shortly).Its a hand I wouldn't play if I wasn't the bring-in, which may be incorrect (still trying to adapt from Stud 8).ANTES/BLINDSEveryone antesDEALSeat 1: Player A [ xx,xx,10S ] FoldsSeat 2: Player B [ xx,xx,9H] CallsSeat 3: Player C [ xx,xx,8H ] FoldsSeat 4: Hero [ 5H,QD,5C] Brings-inSeat 5: Player D [ xx,xx,8D ] FoldsSeat 10: Villain [ xx,xx,AC] Calls4THSeat 2: Player B [ xx,xx,9H, 7S] CallsSeat 4: Hero [ 5H,QD,5C, 5S] BetsSeat 10: Villain [ xx,xx,AC, 6D] Calls5THSeat 2: Player B [ xx,xx,9H, 7S, 10C] FoldsSeat 4: Hero [ 5H,QD,5C, 5S, 9S] BetsSeat 10: Villain [ xx,xx,AC, 6D, 3H] Calls6THSeat 4: Hero [ 5H,QD,5C, 5S, 9S, AD] BetsSeat 10: Villain [ xx,xx,AC, 6D, 3H, KD] Calls7THSeat 4: Hero [ 5H,QD,5C, 5S, 9S, AD, 2S] Bets, CallsSeat 10: Villain [ xx,xx,AC, 6D, 3H, KD, XX] RaisesThe only street I am unsure of would be 7th, as it may be a check/call (trips is a powerful hand though in Stud).Please feel free to comment on all streets.

You're play looks good and you're analysis of 7th sounds good. Check/call with trips is a good idea. I can't see the villain having anything but 2 pair here. Diamonds, let's hope not. And if he has trip aces kings or sixes than it sucks, but the check/call at the end will save a bet... what was the outcome?

Check/Call my ass. I'm betting this hand all week long and twiceon Sundays. If we're raised, then I like calling down, but no waydo I check this hand and let him see it for free.

Your move on 7th Street is read-dependent. NEITHER move is automatic..and anyone telling you it is is wrong. IF you put him on a draw, check. If he checks, you know that he busted and probably would have folded to a bet. If he bets, you only have to pay one bet IF you are beat, AND with you checking he may sense weakness and try bluffing. Thus, you win a bet you wouldn't have won. If you think he is on a draw and you lead out, he folds most of the time you have the best hand and raises most of the time when you are beat..thus costing you two bets. If you think he is on a draw, check and call..it is the best play. IF you make a habit of doing this and players begin to pick up on this...then you can start checking on the river against players who you think are drawing when you have a full house, and then you can check-raise on the river...thus making your check on the river a two-way weapon. However, if you think your opponent is just trying to call you down with a pair/two pair......then bet on the river...as the chances he has hit a four or two outer on you are much less..and you can safely value-bet here 90 percent of the time.

I like to check/call here without a read. It gives him the chance to bet a busted low draw, where as he might just fold if you bet.

No low here, it's stud high ;)I check-call trips if it looks like I'm up against a flush or straight draw, but there isn't much danger here, so I bet/call/curse. The limit's low enough that you might get raised by aces up.

There's nothing here whatsoever to indicate a draw. There's no straight draw visible, and there weren't even two flush cards showing until 6th street. Also, since we just brought it in on third, and didn't even have to call a raise, I don't really think we're "clearly representing" trips either. Most .5/1 players would be happy to bet out with one pair on fourth street.Honestly, I think that aces up is the most likely hand for villian here, and I'd probably bet/reraise the river. If you're playing at a more reasonable level (something like 5/10), then bet/call would be the right move, but I'd never check/call this. You miss out on way too much value against raggedy two pairs and even one pair hands at times.
