Anyone made there own poker table? I plan on doing this in the near future and i was just wondering if anyone had any tips. I want to make my own rail insted of buying that perfect padding shit, so any rail tips are great.

i'm 17 and after a big win decided to build my own table with the profits...got an 8'x4' sheet of plywood and trimmed 2 inches down each side with a buzz saw so that those pieces of wood could be put longways for support. then i made semi circles at each end by using string and a marker to draw the arc and cut. i used padding that normally goes under table clothes for the middle part of the table, ordered velveteen online and used a staple gun. for the rail, i used green foam padding and cut the padding i wanted, then i stitched together peices of vinyl that would cover them up and used a staple gun again. i set it on a box frame to go over an auxilary table i had... made a great table that has yielded me well, haha.

I made a table last year and plan on making a couple more this spring, possibly to sell. You can find plans on the internet which are all pretty good. Words of advice: Take your time . . . measure twice/cut once . . . and get a good jigsaw! A good quality jigsaw with a good blade is a must.I made the rail in one piece and used half-inch "camera case" foam for the padding. You can pick that stuff up pretty cheap at any Jo-Ann Fabric.Good luck and have fun!

I made my table about last summer and its been a big hit. homepokertourney.com is a good site with links, but the only one you really need is www.pcpotato.com. Also, the type of table top padding you use is very important. Instead of closed cell foam, which can get pricey and tought to find, i suggest carpet padding, which can be purchased cheap and in any measurements at any carpet store. The rail is the most tricky part of the table. Instead of a removeable rail like they show on pcpotato.com, i used a built in rail. This required me to wrap the rail from the table top instead of bottom, and it looks a little sloppy in places. For my next table, i am going to go with the removeable rail, and likely split it into 4 removeable sections with built in cup holders. Each removeable section could then be semi-permanently attached by using brackets on the bottom of the table. For materials, i suggest faux-suede for table top, faux-leather for the rail, carpet padding for table top padding, and 1/2 inch high density foam for the rail.As for the legs ... many people nail the table top to an existing banquest type table, but i suggest going to home depot and purchasing folding table legs for $15 ... works great.

I've built 3 tables and each one gets better. My suggestion is to research, research, research! You don't want to put a lot of time into what youe think will work and have it look like crap in the end. God luck.
