how do people play 4 tables online at once??

Recommended Posts

well i play 8 at once. if you only have one monitor you can only play 4, but your video card resolution should be 1600x1200 (i think you can make it work with 1200x800). to play 8 you need to add a second monitor to your computer. all you need to do is add another video card to your computer then attached your second monitor to that.

Yah. I actually play on two seperate machines and the LCDs are side by side. I am adding dual monitor support on my main machine as well to give me a three monitor setup and up to 12 games at a time.To answer your question it's a matter of preference.I tend to play lower limits when I am playing alot of windows. If I am dedicated to one or two tables then I play higher limits and I pay attention to most of the action. With multiple tables you don't get as much attention on everything, but you'd be surpised how much you can keep up with. I know who's trying to roll over people at the table and I know the betting tendancies of everyone after a couple of times around the table. I might not be as sharp as I would be if I were just playing that table, but it's a successful venture for me and I can make 5-8x what I normally make in a day. When I first started playing though I didn't subscribe to this theory. Only this year did I start playing more than two tables at once.... It takes a while to get used to if you aren't a multi-tasker, but for me it comes naturally.Besides I tend to get bored playing online poker with just one window going on. It's not like casino poker where I have players to watch for tells and small tipoffs etc.... I have a computer screen with lotsa temptations around me. So if I play alot of tables at once I am not looking for something else to do inbetween hands because I have other hands to focus on.And let's be honest, if you are playing solid poker you are only playing about 20% of the hands anyway [depending on numerous factors obviously] so at any given time I have at most 1-2 tables to react to within 20 seconds of one another. Sometimes I get four or five tables at once requiring action but I have it down to a science now and I quite enjoy it. It works for me. If it doesn't work for you, don't do it. Try the micro-limits until you get used to it and then progress up.

4 is my limit as I usually play tournaments where you need to have a little more thought process about betting and what not as opposed to limit cash games where the game is much more mechanical. I have tried more than that at once but I have found I can not focus on more than 4 at once.

4 is my limit too. It takes a little while to get used to paying attention to multiple tables, but when I'm playing 4 tables at a time and have some music going, I concentrate on it a lot more than if I'm playing one table. When just playing one table I'm always turning on the TV or have a few webpages open for between hands, and it ends up hurting my play. With 4 tables going, the TV is always off and I can fully concentrate on poker. Also, 4 tables is only when I'm playing limit. If I'm playing nolimit cash games then I only have 2 open since its more important to pay attention to the NL games and little decisions are more crucial in those games.

thanks for all the posts. im still at 2 tables simultaneously, trying to keep that up. even in limit games, i like to study and watch whats going on, even when i'm not in the hand and gain information on players. i guess one bad thing about that is when you fold your hand and see how the rest of that hand unfolds and realize you could have won a huge pot... but of course thats not constructive. trying 3 tables [i was in the middle of a razz hand on full tilt], i accidently timed out on a NL SNG tourney hand with 7 7 [on a different site], and lo and behold a 7 comes up on the flop and i realize i lost a huge massive pot in which i could have tripled up [no joke] which would have definitely won 1st for me [i ended up in the money, just barely].wow, tech, 12 tables? quite a feat. i think i could do 4 if i was playing lower limits than what im used to, but is it worth it to play 4 tables at half the usual limits you play at, then 2 at your regular limits? i guess it depends.

Don't try to push it unless you are comfortable. If you find that it's too much go back to two tables.Or give it a try at the play tables if you must. I know it's not the same but at least you can determine if you can physically manage playing more than the number of tables you are used to.

Playing 2 or more tables at once is unpossible.

4 is the limit for me. As soon as tables start to overlap I find it difficult to keep up enough and understand how each game/hand is progressing.First thing first is you need to find a poker room that allows you to tile the windows and shrink them without losing too much clarity. Bodog, iPoker and Microgaming are especially good for this.Full Tilt allows you to shrink the windows, but in my opinion they are a little difficult to work with at such a small size.

UB's miniview is the best for multi-tabling imho. Other sites let you resize, but the ratio of graphical clutter to information is still the same.I think there's an implicit assumption that you're running software (like pokertracker) to help you with the reads. It's pretty tough to do anything more than play your own cards otherwise.I generally play just 2 tables.

I am really happy to enter in this site. Poker is one of the online gaming. It is very talented game. In poker game so many persons play with betting. It is almost gambling. It has so many types. Family members also play for fun with this game. We're all new players and we cannot play at 4 tables at once! It's incredible.

I have no problem 8 tabling with the windows at the smallest size on fulltilt.the site that i have the most problem with is stars in terms of clarity

My max is probably 4 too.I do it with short handed sit'n'go tournaments. Instead of starting them all at once, I start a new one every 10 minutes, or sooner if I bust out. This allows me to grind out the lower, slow and boring levels out while i pay more attention to the later stages of the other games. The advantage to doing this rather than playing several at the same time and on the same structure is obvious, once all 4 games become short handed the action will be hard to cope with and at that stage in the tournament you really want to be paying more attention to each hand, not less.
