Your Favorite Tourneys

Recommended Posts

List your favorite tournaments, that you like to play often for whatever reason. I'm looking for daily tournaments that generate a decent prize pool, give you some play, and possibly have a lot of donkeys. As of now, I enjoy the full tilt double stack 50 buy in at 7 est. I also enjoy the partypoker 35k 100 buy in at 7 est. Am i missing any on here besides the 8 and 10 pm est full tilt tourneys? Would appreciate any help you guys could give, thanks

The Bodog $100K Guarantee on Sunday is great fun. 2500 in chips, 15 minute blinds that start at 5/10. You can really get in a lot of play and skill really shines. $100+9 buyin, huge overhang--rarely more than 800 players.

Grinder, I don't know how much you want to divulge, but I have trouble understanding how young guys like you build your bankrolls to play in the larger online events. I think I have the talent to be playing in these events but I definitely lack the bankroll. I play mostly $10+$1 tourneys online as it is now... and I'm 22.

The stars 10+1 with one add-on, one rebuy is nice because it is basically a deep stack tourney with quicker levels. I wish they had a 30 or a 50 version of this tourney, or they played it more. The $30 Stars tourney on Wednesday nights typically gets a pool of over $20k, and the field is pretty weak.Stars Friday night 100+9 is decent. And as we have seen, the 55k guaranteed is nice too :club:.Check out my thread in Tourney strat about the trial blind structure Stars used in the 150 as well as a $3 tourney last night.

I play mostly on full tilt, I like the 24+2 guarantees all day as I like smaller fields most of the time. I also like the 50+5 doublestack, and the regular 50+5 that runs around 11 or 12 I think. I of course like the 100 - 200 entries on FT and UB. I lose on pokerstars all the time, I think the fields are too massive and I don't pay attention. I can navigate huge fields on Full Tilt though. I love that place.

it takes a decent size score to move up like MJ has. You can always try sat'ing into these bigger events as well. Tilt has a $16,500 gar. at 10 est that is a $24+2. You can sat into that one for as little as $4.40, I prefer the 2 table $6.60 tokens myself. First place in that one is over 3.5k usually. From there you can start oln the 30 and 20$ buyin tourneys. If you can get lucky to sat into some of the bigger weekend tournies and make a decent score there you can move up just as easy.try out some sat's, you may be surprised on how easy it is to make it into bigger tournies on some sites.gl

I am probably not the guy to talk about building a roll, I was your typical deposit 50 dollars on pokerstars and play 1 2 till I went bust loser. Somehow, With like 50 in my account on full tilt, I went on a crazy MTT heater and final tabled 4 or 5 days straight, and ended up with 1 or 2k. From there, I was still playing out of my bankroll, but went deep in teh 30k a few times and built it up a little more. I played some cash games, some SNG's added a few K here and there, but almost my whole bankroll is big cashes. Party super 5th-, Full tilt 60k 3rd- full tilt 30k 2nd- , 30k again-5th maybe?, Pokerstars 20+2 2nd-, bodog 100k- 9th . I had a lot more in my br than I do now, because unfortunately I put a lot away for college.EDIT: I always play out my bankroll, and have never won a MTT with a buy in higher than 20+2. I'm so overrated.

I can give you an answer to this. I built up my bankroll by winning in cash games and tournaments. I started playing 5s 10s, fairly low limit poker. I am a fairly risk averse individual but I'm not stupid. I play slightly out of bankroll usually and take my shots. Being young and a student, I don't have a lot of money, but I also don't have a ton of financial commitments so I can use a large portion of my spare cash for poker. I've at times had 3/4 of my total funds in poker sites. hope that helps answer.Oh and satellites.

Ya that's about right, win cash games, smaller tourneys, satellites, then taking shots at bigger tourneys. However, lets' get this back on track and find some good tournaments to make some cash in

The first tourney I cashed in (biggest cash I've had) was the 7PM EST 12K Guarantee on Royal Vegas. It's a 20$ unlimited rebuy+ 1 add-on and there are rarely more than 300 people playing. It's quite good and there are some soft players.I also like the US Grand Prix, if I can win a ticket, as well as the US Daily, same ticket deal. They, too, rarely go above 300 players, but aren't as soft. And, as my BR is very low right now, I love the $2 Frenzy, but I rarely get to play, and the $5 1 rebuy/1 add-on tourneys. The Full Tilt tourneys are good and the sattelite action is high volume.Regards!

my favourite tournies are anything that starts after midnight my time on absolute. won free money there and just started playin the small 5 dollar tournies and found that they were good play, weak competition, and pretty reliable for cashing. then they changed the structure so its too fast now. i always prefered the smaller number of people in tournaments.

I like the 30+3 35k rebuy on party at 4:40 (maybe it's 4:10) est. Usually around 450-500 players and first prize is routinely in the 8-10k range. As far as 'rolls for these big tournies, I was the habitual depositer until I won the 200k on party. I then proceeded to lose most of that by playing the big buyin tourneys (WCOOP). I then got my roll back by going deep in the party 500k.

Friday Special and Saturday 200k on Party. Plus the Supers when I can play them. Deeper structure on Party now, so I like them more now. I don't know why I don't play the 35k anymore on Party, I used to almost every day I could, but I guess I just would rather play cash games now than play what ends up in a crapshoot everytime.

Not favorite, but just wanted to bring it up....I'm in the midst of one of Party's new shootout tourney. I won my first table and am waiting for round 2. Anyone played these?Kinda wierd, when I busted the guy in 4th, it stops the table and you finish in whatever your chip position is. Probably to keep things moving until round 4.
