The one stroke adjustment for betting is sound, as long as the initial set-up is accurate. If the strokes given initially are off by like 10, you would expect 10 straight losses and then alternating wins and losses (assuming average play or equal improvement). That would definitely be a hustle.Like the blog says, "You do that, you’re a scumbag." It does happen alot in recreational leagues though. Even if not outright scrubbing their first few games to establish an inflated handicap, players often try new techniques or piss around at the start of the season giving them an edge when league play starts. On a different note: I'm always struck by how DN appears to bet on everything! It reminds me of the gambling addiction posters I always see at casinos, though I'm sure DN has the discipline to make sure it does not affect his bank roll or his life too much.

Hey as long as your addiction's productive, it's no big deal right? DN doesn't bet anything near the amounts he wins playing poker on his recreational gambling, so I don't see how it could hurt him in the long run. There's a big difference between putting a few thousand on a golf game or a hockey game when you can afford it and someone like Stuey Ungar who would put every dime he owned on a fight or a horse race.

I agree. It would be like the average guy betting dollars on things all over the place. A bad day is what, $20 total? Apparently Daniel is pretty generous with the funds in productive ventures, so it's really no big deal...the amounts just make somebody not making a ton of $$ a little weirded out.
