Goal-Turn $100 into $2000 playing PLO8 at Party Poker.-I like what Smash've done, I hope that by doing this will turn more players interested in plo8 and encourage discussions about the strategies beating this game.RulesI will play mostly PLO8 cash games, I may play some tournaments or SnGs when my BR grows.I will play mostly two tables at a time.I will start playing at the $25 level.When I hit $400 I will move to $50.When I hit $800 I will move to $100.When I hit $1400 I will move to $200.I will post hands that I win and lose and explain my thinking behind how I played them. I had a few hands that I was the favorite (something like 70% or so)on the flop but things just turned south. But anyway I still booked an ok win, things could have been much better (funny thing was I also took a few beats on my regular cash game, but I didn't tilt and still booked a nice win at the end). Since there were players behind me I hoped that someone with A2 would bet out and I could get them 1/4ed. If I raise I might shut them out, but if I got them in the pot and I won a much bigger pot for the high even if low got there it's still a better investment, so I just called. You brought up some good points, I should probably try this out at the $25 tables (but not at PP currently). But you know what, I've tried this at the $5 tables at PS before and I potted/repotted/shoved it every time preflop and have made some good wins too, the reason I was doing that before was after I've booked wins at the regular games I kind of felt stressed, bored and I wanted to have some fun and to play like a maniac even it meant I will donk some money off. But the side effect was it turned me into a maniac and it affected my regular plays. I came to realize that I had no respect for the other players and I had no respect of my plays. It didn't matter what levels you are playing at but when you play then make it a +EV play, keep your attitude positive and make it a good experiment.Now since you've mentioned I just got an idea, I will play at a $25 table (not at PP but some other accounts) with a sticker covering my hands preflop and flop, I will pot on those two betting rounds until the turn, then I will see my cards and go from there, but if I get played back on the flop I will see my cards. The reason I am doing this is not the same as what I've done before but to improve my post flop plays and my reading skills.I've played with some real maniacs like this before, and I've played with some top-notched 2k players who came down to $200/$400/$600 levels and they raised like almost every hand, experiences taught me to tighten up and only play against them when I have positions on them and my starting hand selection even tightens more up, bottom line is don't let them turn you into a maniac because they are, don't trap yourself and don't make yourself tilted. I would play it the same way, but simply because the money isn't deep enough to try and get tricky, and the board really isn't right for a fancy play.If the money were deeper you might want to try and save enough to make a pot sized bet on the river in certain circumstances. When you flop these monster draws, you will often be getting called down by a hand with another low draw and a pair. They will often be looking for low and if your hand bricks out a pot sized bet on the river may take the pot on the end where you are actually being scooped. In this case I would ususally be leading the flop, because this will save you some chips to bet on the end as opposed to the check raise which is more money in on the flop and on the turn. Usually you want a more typical low draw (A2 or A3 as opposed to the A4 of this hand) because for the conditions to be right you really need to be fairly sure your opponent will have a low draw plus a mild high when he just calls. You are looking to be able to bluff out the mild high when you brick out, and since you are betting out the flop and turn it is hard to call for the whole pot with just a pair. Something to think about anyway. I think these extended semibluffs/value bets with a big river bluff when you brick is a valuable play. So often the other people are calling with low draws and when it bricks the gutsy play can get the pot, but you need to have chips to bet.

At those levels any day any times it's easy to beat. It's just about play your good hands in position, don't overplay your hands, and value-bet when you have a made hand.At PS's $100, $200 and $400 levels though I think it's easier to beat in the mornings, I play more often now like an hour but less than two before I get to work (anywhere from 6am to 9am cst), I think it's because players might get tired, the notorious nut-peddlers had left, the poor players wanted to get even...Take an example as this morning at the $1000 level, there was a very good solid $400 level player sitting there with $1800+, then later on two players joined with $400 each (one came after another). The good player overplayed his good drawing hands, and the other players with as poor as the top pair scooped, and the good player became very frustrated and the last hand he lost his another buy-in. He had A24Q ss on the BB potted it to the limper, the flop was 3c5cXc, he potted it and got potted back by the limper's nut-flush (but the limper's hand was pretty junky too, something like A89Q with two clubs) and he called. The "good" player lost about 3k when he left, tell me this wasn't a fish tank! But when that "good" player played at nights at the $400 levels, I have never seen him doing these. I noted him "could be tilted".
