Patrick-If you do decide to run up to Reno post it somewhere or let me know. I am thinking of going up a couple of weekdays and hitting some of the $300 ones. I may try to satelllite into the main event. If you go, I will look you up.Great report! I love the stories of how the hands were played out. Do you think knowing about the pros and there style impacts your play against them?

Will do regarding Reno; are you in the Bay Area, or more north? As far as playing against 'name' players, I suppose I take into account how they play, but that is no different then how I play against different types of players online. If I know someone to be aggressive, then I will check more big hands to them, and raise them more with nothing. If I know someone to be considered a tight player, I'll respect their raises more and try not to run too many bluffs on them.Actually, I try to impart my image as an unknown younger player on them. I think a lot of times you can bluff in certain situations based on that image, especially late in the tournament near the money. They think 'Oh, this guy wouldn't risk bubbling without a big hand here.' etc. I just try and view it as no different then any MTT, and do my best to make the final 3.

I am in Roseville actually. I am thinking about just driving up and back for the day. I went up and played in a couple of the Peppermill tournaments last fall.

PM - Just a matter of time before that guy to my right got into an altercation. He was muttering under his breath every hand. Was actually kind of entertaining. Strange play by that bounty killer guy. Though not that surprising given that he was considering folding that full house, not realizing that he had filled up.There was definitely some entertaining antics throughout the tourney. I may have told you that Layne Flack fell asleep on one of my earlier tables (apparently he had been partying quite a bit the few nights before). Took a couple of decent pots from him (nothing to brag about, given that the guy was snoring!). Then the star struck guy next to me flipped Flack's picture playing card and a pen to him and asked for an autograph. Flack replied - "Dude, you just woke me up from my nap" and then reluctantly signed it. Usually a bush league move to essentially admit you are a novice, but worked out for this guy. On the next hand the guy pushed all in, Flack looks at him and says, "I don't have a hand, but who better to give my chips to than you." The guy's pocket 5's held up against Flack's KQ (bizarre play all around), and Flack left for bed.I'll definitely check out the Reno schedule. May have a conflict with a tourney I'm scheduled to play at Harrah's AC. If I don't go, looking forward to the recap(s). Will most likely be at the Mirage WPT, if any FCPers are planning on playing.

Yeah, he was muttering a lot. He def thought he was verrrrry good. The bounty collector guy was an idiot, but so was Danny Nyguen. :-)Heh, funny story about Layne...I had noticed he was out early, didn't know how.

Nice report PM. I "virtually" know Brent Carter as he frequents the 15/30, 30/60 O8 games on Party and is a nice guy and a good player. You seem to enjoy writing, maybe you should start a blog. I think a lot of people would be interested in reading it.

Heh, then I'd get even less work done then I do now. :-)No, it's something I've considered, but I have a hard time taking myself seriously enough to think people would want to read it. You are right though, I enjoy writing, but it was always more on the fiction side of things. Writing the tournament reports for pokertrails was the first 'reporting' I had done, and it took some getting used to. So bland. :-)

Hey man..really nice report. Sounds like you played really well and caught a tough break. Thanks for sharing that experience though, hopefully we'll here about you making a final table soon!
Na, making FTs is overrated, especially when you go out on the 3rd or 4th hand in 10th. ;-)

The experience sounds great. If I had the money it would almost be worth it to enter with little expectation of winning just to play with those guys once.Kinda like a fantasy baseball camp where you get to play with the legends.

Agreed; it would be nice to be able to approach a tournament with that sort of 'care free' attitude. Unfortuantely, I can't do that. :-)Honestly, the fantasy baseball camps would be a lot more fun/rewarding. Poker players aren't usually the most social of creatures (barring DN and a few others).

Why don't you write a column for cardplayer or try to become a tournament reporter? You could make money doing two things you love!Great read.I am very proud of you. Now, I am going to go masterbate, while I cry. (sw)-The Bwaves2 :icon_suit_spade: 4 :icon_suit_spade:

"Agreed, but, I have zero chance of playing with them, ever, unless I did something like that. I think it would be a gas to be able to tell people I played with them.I envy you...you did play with them, and, even though you didn't win, it doesn't seem like the experience killed ya...or, even busted you.

Well, I played in the WSOP ME with a lot of them, and I final tabled the Aruba WPT event, so it wasn't my first experience of the sort. You are right though, it's unique in that _anyone_ can pay their entry fee and play with the 'pros', which is impossible in sports and the like.
