Bay 101 2k Event Tournament Report

Recommended Posts

PM, Thanks for taking the time to write about the event. Many FCP'ers really enjoy reading about you're continued quest to hit a big one. Of everyone here I do believe that you have the ability to take down a big tourney, soon to boot. Fun read, other than the bad beat, though. Thanks
Ty for the kind sentiments. :-) Hopefully I'll have something go my way in a key spot one of these days.
Nice report Patrick, thanks! I think you seriously need to consider performing a voodoo ritual with a pocket pair of Jacks or something. Just burning them probably won't be enough, I would suggest something involving a bucket of KFC, a naked native girl, a couple of white candles and a handful of Pez.
LOL, agreed. The bucket of chicken is a Major League reference isn't it?
Great read it kept me interested the whole way. You definately need to post more experiences along the way.I have one question though... you talk about Aruba so is this you?http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=50565
Well, the picture isn't me of course. ;-) But yes, that is me. I never wrote a complete Aruba trip report, although I started one. I lagged on it, and the details faded...though I think I've discussed different hands from the tournament on here, and you can go back and read John Vorhaus' blog, or the cardplayer coverage.

Patrick, It was great sitting next to you and chatting (notwithstanding the awful run of cards that I had during that time). Nice recap, but was really hoping that you would cash. Sorry about that awful AA beat. I agree that the tourney staff did a great job and will definitely make the trip from NYC next year (may even come back for the Bay 101 Open, whenever that is).

Or taken the 2k and gone back to Aruba and gotten...well let's do the math....$40 per girl....so either 500 seperate encounters, or 250 two on one encounters. Better looking then 95% of the skanks you see in Vegas too, as well as more...Friendly?San Nicholas...If you ever go to Aruba, just find a cab driver and tell him you want to go to San Nicholas. ;-)
this is some of the best advice ever given on this site

Yeah, it was a pleasure. Ha, I was hoping I would cash too, but the guy at the end of the table didn't cooperate. It was the Philipino kid with the hat and glasses on that had the JJ...The guy sitting to the right of the middle aged Asian woman. You missed a bit of a altercation between the kid that had picked up the two bounties in the...6 seat, and the guy that knocked you out. The 6 seat was taking a long time to act as usual (utg) and your nemesis said 'Next time poker is on tv, just turn it off...you watch too much.', but in his own words. The guy kinda sat their for a second and then got all defensive, they argue back and forth for a second, and all of a sudden the 6 seat says 'Fine, I'm all-in'. He was the big stack at the table, but pushing UTG for like 80 x the bb...Well, it was a bit odd. Ha, I folded 77 there, and that was after the AA beat so I could have used the double up.I _believe_ the Bay 101 Open is in September or October. The WPO in Reno is coming up though...I think I'm going up there the weekend of St Patrick's Day to play a few of the $500 prelim events.

Ha, you like that? Heh, no one called me out on my horrid math though. 2000/40 = 50, not 500. Ah, just wishful thinking I guess.Heh, actually the better deal is that for like $300, you can go and pick up one of the girls after 2 am, and keep her until the next day at 7pm. Not sure how much Matusow paid for the girl he had with him _all_ week, but he probably got a discount. Ha, and at the UB farewell party, he had two with him. Maybe she was thrown in as an extra for having the other girl all week...Like a coupon.
I must of missed it, are you not playing in the 10k main?
Nope, not playing. I seriously considered buying in, but I just can't justify dropping 10k on one event. I had a golden opportunity to win my seat in one of the DS on Stars, but I blew it. I was too cocky about having time to win a seat that I ignored the multiple satellites Paradise ran in January for the event as well, which was dumb. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), I'm handicapped by having a job so I couldn't play many of the satellites they ran during the week at Bay 101 itself.

Well, I work for my father's company. If I worked for anyone else's company, I would probably still be asleep right now, or getting ready to play the $100 rebuy on Stars.Part of it is due to loyalty, and part of it is that it will benefit me financially to work here in the long run. Also, I'd hate to have poker start to feel like work.Ha, since you mentioned it though, the gf would not be too happy either.

Man, doesn't even address the boyfriend comment. My flames are carrying less and less weight. And to those that think it wasn't deserved-Pat asked me the other day if I was the autistic kid who scored 20 against Spencerport. Think about it :club:

Well, I knew you were from upstate NY, and you do seem sort of slow, yet enthusiastic. ;-) Heh in all seriousness, that kid owned. I feel bad for the other team that had him drop 20 points in 4 minutes on.

Hehe poor Spencerport. Their only good sport is wrestling, and thats because that is the sport that is closest to cow wrangling and pig wrestling. Having Greece and Spencerport play is like having the state of Kansas play basketball against the city of Chicago. Kansas might have a good player or two, but Chicago's deaf, blind team manager is a better player than the last starter for the Kansas team.

Geez, way to incite Jayhawk fans across the country. I'm going to post a link to your post in a Jayhawk forum, as well as your email address. Then again, most of the KU players are probably from Chicago, NYC, La etc.Something about the autistic kid story seems fishy to me though. If he's 5ft6 and autistic, how come no one could D up on him? I'm pretty sure the other team must have let him shoot uncontested. It was probably something discussed by the two coaches if the game was out of reach. Impressive that he was able to knock down all those open 3s though.

No, if you watch the vid, he had a hand in his face on at least 3 of the shots. One of the shots was definitely behind an illegal screen and another was on an outlet pass, but he had a hand in his face on several of the others. If you think about it though...if there was ever a kid who you would want in that situation, it would be someone who is highly functioning autistic. Austism causes you to just focus very hard and block everything else out, so if there was a kid who could hit 3s all day while the entire gym is going nuts, it would be him.

Ha, I was just looking through the deck of cards they gave us at the tournament...Each 'star' is a different playing card. For instance, DN is the Ks I believe, PH the 9s, AD the Qh, JH the Qs, etc.So, in light of that, replace 'aggressive middle aged Asian woman' with Mimi Tran in my report. Also, when I said I didn't notice Harry D at first, it was because he was in the 10 seat, and I was in the 2 seat at the time, with a 400 pound dealer (pbmagoo, you know who Im talking about) between us. Heh, that's why I heard the British accent before I actually saw him.

It took me a second to realize that JH was Jennifer Harman, not Joe Hachem. It would be way funnier if they made Joe Hachem the queen of spades. Or diamonds.Someone should show Phil his card and ask why he wasn't a king.

Heh, Hachem is one of the aces....the 4 aces were: Doyle, Hachem, Danny Nyguen, and..........I don't remember. :-/ Ivey and Dn were both kings...Phil is the 9s because his trademark hand is two black nines I'm sure.
