theresa113 0
Cat Stevens > Ugly kid JoeQ: DID CAT STEVENS SING/WRITE "CAT'S IN THE CRADLE?":No. "Cat's In The Cradle" was written and recorded by Harry Chapin. This is a VERY common misconception. Recently there have been a number of Cat's In The Cradle MP3 files on file sharing services that claim to be either Cat Stevens (Bio), or Harry Chapin and Cat Stevens. They are not, it's just Harry. Or in some cases some other artist who recorded the song. Cat not only didn't write the song but never performed it. Not live, not in the studio, and not even privately.http://catstevens.com/faq/Comon mistake. Guess you have to be old like me to know the difference.

CardWarfare 4
Oh. I didn't mean any insult. It is nice that you feel that way. If I remember right, you are like the same age as my son. If so... well, kind of creepy in a way. Know what I mean?Yeah I gotcha It wasn't necessarily meant in THAT way. You thought up that by yourself
SilentSnow 1
OK... what about the song, Because the Night.Written and performed by Bruce Springsteen. Then made famous by Patti Smith and then covered by 10,000 Maniacs.I can't decide which version I like best. Is this a case where all of the versions are tied?id take the patti smith version, and not very close.horses and easter are 2 of my favorite cds.i never really got into springsteen and 10000 maniacs except for a few songs.but on a related note, it is time to reveal the ultimate cover song pwn.william hung- she bangs. ramalamadingdong 0
I really liked the Foo Fighters' "Baker Street".And Korn's "Brick in the Wall"I'd really like to hear Hendrix doing Sgt Pepper. I know he did it live.
killer 0
The Gourds version of "Gin' n' Juice" is soooooooo much better than Snoop Dogs!!!Slayers "dissident agressor" kicks on Judas Priests!!
ford14 0
Baker Street by the Foo Fighters dominates the original.I also nominate Marcel Luske's version of that Give a little bit song...

Randy Reed 0
I have to admit here and now, that I have always, and will always have the opinion the Guns & Roses are terrible. His voice is worse than the a chalkboard screech, and they murder everyone elses material. I'd drive a nail into my ear than listen to them.
SAM_Hard8 50
As for me, Bruce Springsteen "Blinded by the Light" pwns whoever played it first. That would be Bruce Springsteen. Manfred Mann covered it.
Bizzle 0
Dick Cheese owns all coversSaw him in Hawaii. Not as good live as expected. The fact that he was clearly hammered by the time he took the stage was probably a problem.
kers2 0
I wouldnt say it pwned the original, but I loved The Blank Theory's cover of "Sour Times" by Portishead because it reminded me what a good song it is.

digitalmonkey 929
Always Something There To Remind Me by Naked Eyes is better than any other version of the Burt Bacharach song.

buzbrad11 0
William Shatner covering Rocket Man by Elton John.okay, clearly not. Or maybe. No.Seriously though:If the Byrds had finished the song, I think I would perfer their take on Mr. Tambourine Man over Dylan's. But They didn't, so I wouldn't.Also, Michael Bolton has a great cover of Drift Away.... or maybe it's not so great. No where near actually.Possibly the best cover of a Beatles song is Sarah MacLachlan's cover of Blackbird, but even still it isn't as good.Sheryl Crow has a decent cover of Rod Stewart's The First Cut Is the Deepest, if it was even he who did it first...That's all I got for now. cuddlemonkey 0
I'm partial to Jeff Buckley's version of Kick Out The Jams by MC5. Also, David Gray's cover of Soft Cell's Say Hello, Wave Goodbye is easily the superior version.
