Bay 101 Shooting Stars Tourney

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to know if any FCP'ers are going to the Bay 101 Shooting Stars Tourney. Thought that it would be nice to meet some FCP'ers and talk poker or whatever and have a beer or two at Sutter's Place

I'm playing the 2k event on Sunday, and still undecided on the ME. Most likely going to play at least the $1050 satellite on Saturday for the ME, and possibly one of the rebuy satellites tomorrow if I flake on work. If I don't win my seat, I'm _might_ buy in, but I'm still hesitant to drop $10k on one event.Patrick

Did you direct buy in for that Aruba event you did well in?

Nope, won my seat in a $200 satellite on UB. Won my WSOP seat last year in the $33 rebuy satellite. It all would be irrelevant if I could have finished the deal in Aruba...Not the main event where I came in 10th (although finishing in the top 3 would have accomplished the same thing), but the 'Be a Pro for a Year' freeroll UB had for a portion of the online qualifiers. I don't remember all the details, but the winner received buy ins to 6 events I believe. Anyway, something like 180 entrants, only first place pays anything...and I came in 6th. Blah.Patrick

The $2k event is this Sunday, the 26th, and the main event starts on Monday, the 27th. The field is divided into two starting days, so half the field plays Tuesday. If you ever need any information on a major tournament/series of tournaments, cardplayer.com can provide the details you need.

The OP mentioned the Sutter Room...I used to play at the Sutter Club, in Alviso, many years ago...It's gone now, I think...any connection?
The Sutter Club in Alviso closed in the early 90's due to the widening of highway 237. A new location was found and this location is where Bay 101 stands, hence the name of the sports bars Sutter's.Stylinhawyn,I'm not from the Islands but I've gone there more than 20 times, my wife has a good friend who lives in Kaneohe and I have relatives that live on Maui and one in Hilo. I also have a few friends on the Big Island Kohala Coast including John Keawe who plays the slack key.

The Sutter club was funny...same 6 guys in there every night. I once saw a 70 year old guy smack another one in the jaw right at the table.Never hit the bar at the 101...excellent coffee, though.Pretty good food, better than Garden City....Vietnamese I think.
