It's probably close. I agree that if you are going to play, you need to 3-bet to fold out the blinds and get some good fold equity. It's essentially like cold-calling with A9 but with a somewhat greater equity because you can get better aces to fold on the flop or turn most of the time.

I don't really like the 3-bet for a few reasons:1) It's a rock garden, so you don't have to blast people out (they'll fold anyway)2) Raise came from EP, so you're probably in trouble. I think the FE you gain by 3-betting is minimal, because you are just bloating the pot for hands like AQIf I were you, I would just call here, and I wouldn't be too happy about it.If the raise came from 1 seat to your right, I like a 3-bet.2 seats to your right, it's close.

what range is dude open raising from UTG+1.i know you don't have a read, but maybeAA-77AK-AJAKs-ATsKQs-QJsKQi don't think A9o stacks up too well against this range3-betting preflop might be a good move if you knew villain folds the flop too much, but i wouldn't do it against an unknownyou might be tempted to call getting 3 to 1, but i would argue that your hand is easily dominated and that calling often causes multiway action, which is bad for this hand

Dude who'd been playing tight as a drum cracked my Cowboys with A9o last night at the casino when he cold-called me out of the small blind. I'd been respecting him and I immediately thought less of him. He flopped an open-ended str8 draw and played it fine postflop, but never should have been in the hand to begin with. The moral of the story... fold A9o to a raise, it's too easily dominated. If you win with it, you're gonna have to suck out.

I think theres some worth in 3betting here in this situation. It's a big risk though, as You'd have to bet off a missed AK-AJ, KQ... fire flop and turn on a board where he missed hoping he folds the turn. If You had a read that he was TA-P then theres more worth in doing this as he'd be hardpressed to continue unless he's got a hand, but against an unknown I don't know. If You do show it down, at least make sure to advertise

I'd wait for a read on some one before I 3-bet them PF with A-9.In this particular spot, it is your first hand on the table and unless you already know who you are up against you are just better folding here. You have to catch to win most of the time here.Later on, when you know some one raises from EP with KJo then it is time to 3-bet.I'm surprised to see you doing this honestly, I thought you were passive?Don't know, never seen you play. Just going on what you have said.

cold calling seems bad to me.I fold if not posting, to be clear. In fact, I usally fold here to one bet, of course to a raise.just wanted to make sure not results oriented..cant promise I won't 3-bet again though!... with so many TAP/TAGs on here now..they don't like being 3 bet OOP
