thechad5 0
I have read many different posts on this topic so I am going to share with you my favorite reason for having the chat on, by showing you my ultimate example.30 person MTT. 24 left. me 5th in chips. blinds 15-30. I have 6-9 off in the bb. MP calls, button limps, sb folds, i check.Flop 9-9-AI knew i had it and didnt want to tip off my 9 so I checked and given a flush draw with one 9 and the A being diamonds I thought it best to let them think i was on a draw and would just smooth call. MP raised 2x bb button calls I call. Turn 9! I check again and almost instintively the MP bets 120 and the button calls. So, wanting to show an Ace and most certain that MP has an Ace i make a min raise. MP calls and Button folds.River 4So I decide to change things up a bit. I also feel that MP may have me on a small pocket pair and is certain his hand is good. So I go to the chat. I got to get this guy to commit all of his chips for certain. He absolutely cant know I have the 9. So I say "Got an Ace?" and bet out 250 hoping to get a raise because I cant let MP check and before this it looks like I have to have an Ace. He raises to 500...now I got him...so I decide to really make him pay. I say "guess thats a yes." followed by "I doubt it" and I shove all in. Without hesitation he calls and I have got 4k with only 7 people out of the tourney. So in summation this is how you use the chat. Don't under any circumstances pay attention to anything anyone else says. And finally some people are idiots. Some of you mad at life people may say it was a dead give away, but a poker players ego loves to be fed and telling him you misread his "brilliant" play will get him to fire back at you almost every time. He even enjoyed being duped. For those of you saying that with an A he was calling anything anyway, I probably agree. Let me say this though, I had to make sure and I wanted him to raise me to make double sure.

eatingpoi 0
lame. you made a weak, amateur play but the guy you were playing also sucked, so you won anyway. gg I have read many different posts on this topic so I am going to share with you my favorite reason for having the chat on, by showing you my ultimate example.30 person MTT. 24 left. me 5th in chips. blinds 15-30. Suited_Up 2
Let me let you in on a little secret...If he had an ace, you were getting paid off regardless. But it's cute that you think you tricked him.
looshle 6
You tipped off your hand by using the chat, and like you said he was calling no matter what. But when you ask if someone has it and the bet and raise and re raise its pretty obvious that you have it. Make the same move next time, just dont use the chat. It's probably costing you $ against the better players.
Tiltinagain 973
Ok so as you can tell im a newbie... whats Tp/MM? Turn Pro/Make Millions It's ok, it took me a while to get the slang here too.
foteeninches 0
amateurish play. move it all in on the river. if he has an ace hes most likely calling no matter what bet you put out there. youre lucky you were up against such a bad player who gave you the extra raises on the river. any solid player wouldnt even think of doing that and woulda cost you some extra chips you coulda drawn out. mtones9 0
Chester - While the hand is being played... isn't it unsportsmanlike and illegal to tell the TRUTH about your hand? Lying about your hand is the only thing you can do while the hand is still live.

Naismith 0
This isn't a flame or anything, just an observation.More often than not, in my experience, when people say "do you have a...?", they mention the best hand that they can beat. For instance, "Do you have a set?" on an A-Q-10 board usually means the straight...and they're hoping you have it. :)Would I have called there with the A? Probably. But that's a pretty consistent tell.Peace,Jay

It's way more profitable to multi-table then to chat in hopes of tricking a player who could be dupped by a tonka truck playing poker.
Nate The Great 0
Once in a SNG on FT there was this incredibly timid player who was getting crazy good cards, but kept complaining every time before he would push or bet or whatever that he "felt a bad beat coming". I picked up Q-Q, and bet about three times the BB from early. This guy raised me his entire stack, and at this point I almost felt pot stuck as I didnt have much left and was thinking seriosuly about calling, when he typed in "bad beat coming"......that made me pause of course, and then he literally typed in..."A-A".......I folded, and he flashed his Aces. I couldn't believe it.

nritchi3 0
The only time i feel its beneficial to use the chat is when i really want a call and the other players time is almost up and im pretty sure he's gonna fold ill just type anything to try to get him to call. Doesn't usually work but its worth a shot on occasion. Don't make it consistent though or they'll wait till the end everytime and see if you type.
