Everytime I see the 2003 WSOP, its just so freakin' ridiculous how lucky Chris Moneymaker got. Obviously, the guy hasn't done squat since and he's been exposed as a lucky slob. I still laugh and shake my head at the run that guy went on...

He got 2nd in WPT shooting stars in 2004. He has had 5 cashes at the wsop since 2003 including 10th in pot limit omaha. He isnt a world class player nor does he claim to be but he isnt a clueless donk. He did get extremely lucky in 2003 but last i checked luck is a big part of tournament poker. Thats why poker has got so huge if everyone believed they had no shot at winning a tournament, poker would be where it was 10 years ago

He also did make some nice plays. ie: bluffing Farha off top pair when he missed his flush draw. I agree that he did get very lucky on more than his fair share of hands, but lets not completely cut the guy up.

or if you are going to bash on moneymaker, at least do it in one of the other 8000 threads dedicated solely to that purpose.

at this point moneymaker is probably just as good as most of the tv players.i mean he's not john juanda or chris ferguson but how bad can he be? he's basically been playing poker and studying poker for over 2 years and playing with the best players. and it's not like he's dumb. the guy WAS an accountant. he was successful in the real world.yeah he was inexperienced when he won the wsop but i'm sure the guy plays a lot better than people think. i mean what do you think he chases every draw or plays any two suited cards or raises with any ace like an internet player?and he's had some decent results since the wsop that were posted already.

Not that I'm some big Moneymaker fan, but if you want to see luck in winning a WSOP main event, go watch Ferguson and Cloutier battle it out. Jesus must have gotten his money in as a big dog at least 6 times and either split the pot or won the last one.Now that was one lucky mo fo.www.mikecunningham.blogspot.commcpoker.usmc
