LOL, reading this thread made me die a little inside. :-) Theresa's OP was tongue in cheek like she said, but I always enjoy watching/reading people argue. Especially when the word 'ghey' is used so often. Quite entertaining.Who is playing? No one on our team will be playing, but someone will be teaching. ;-)Patrick

Sorry, the guy doesn't know the difference between ASH FAULT and ASPHALT.Pretty much puts him in the censored category, I'd say.01.28.70

Last time I checked I'm both way older than that and an excellent player.
It's pretty pathetic that you have to toot your own horn about how great you are at poker...
Too bad chopper88 didn't mention anything being a 9-time world champion...Might actually make for an interesting read!

Great post and i agree... yes even with #9sometimes i wish you could meet these people that make these pointless and rediculously harsh statements... some may be jest or they just like to piss people off but it would be so awesome to be able to talk to these people face to face and see if they are still as opinionated (im sure they read this now and think oh ya i'll tell you a thing or 2 but in reality you know you wouldn't even make eye contact and just walk away...)to those people be real with yourself and just learn to be kind it really makes everyone happy including yourself... today sociaty is so much about hate and rebellion... but these people are making comment about how people who like daniel follow the crowd well by you making these "flames" you are also following the crowd be your own person don't be an ass just cause it's "cool"ok im off my soap boxand let the flame's begin

10 Reasons why Daniel Negreanu is the Best Poker Player Ever!10. Daniel is always willing to think outside of the box. This type of thinking is displayed not only his in poker game but also in business. Daniel ventures into arrangements that are different from his counterparts instead of following the path of others before. Though he has seen mixed success, he is blazing new trails. Expect to one day see something quite revolutionary with Daniel in its association.  9. Daniel could easily be a fashion icon. Secure in his masculinity, Daniel is willing to take fashion risk with his clothing. You will see him wearing bold colors like orange, soft colors like pink or don the sophistication of all black. He keeps up with current trends while adding his own style to the mix. He has evolved from the “kid” attire of hockey jerseys to wearing expertly tailored Armani suits.  8. Daniel is good to his fans. Look out on his website or out on the web and you will see lots of fans posting pictures that they have taken with Daniel. There are stories of Daniel spending precious minutes chatting with his fans. Daniel is the only pro I know of who has created contest to where the winners get flown to Las Vegas and hang out with him at his house!  7. Daniel has Moxie! When I first joined Daniel’s forum, one of his members told me a story about Daniel several years ago before he became a big pro. The forum member was playing at the Bellagio and Daniel was standing behind the table watching. The forum member excused himself to go to the bathroom. Daniel asked him if he could play for him. They guy said sure, not thinking that Daniel was serious. Anyway, the bathroom guy comes back in shock to see Daniel sitting in his seat playing with his stack. The guys shock turned into a pleasant surprise when he saw that in that short time Daniel had more than doubled his stack. (Just a note… I have never been able to verify this story but it does sound like the real thing.)6. Daniel is a funny man. Don’t believe me, read his blog. Daniel has told tales of airport mishaps and buying leather jackets from the back of a car that will keep you in stitches. He does a great Ali G. impression. Watch him on TV and observe his quick wit. Daniel would probably see as much success as a stand up comic as he has seen with being a professional poker player.  5. He is generous. Daniel gives to his fans but he gives to others as well. You will not see Daniel bragging about who or what he gives to but others have commented on his generosity. He takes care of his family. He has also helped many of his friends who have run into trouble. The way Daniel writes about his friends and family you can tell he is the kind of guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. How refreshing!4. Daniel speaks his mind. Daniel will talk about business, religion, sports, politics and social mores with passion and without censorship. When Daniel has an opinion, he is not shy to share it. However, Daniel also appears to have a very open mind as well. He responds quickly to issues that affect poker players and gets his facts together before finalizing his thoughts. Daniel is a great debater and negotiator.  3. "Behind every great man is a great woman". Well, Daniel has 2 great women behind him, his mother and his beautiful wife Lori. Daniel has stated many times that he is who he is because of his great up bringing. You can watch Mrs. Negreanu on the edge of her seat watching Daniel in tournaments. View pictures of Daniel and Lori and you can see a deep love that glows between them. Lori’s beauty is more than skin deep. Daniel has given her credit for being the one to help him focus and she has given him an anchor.2. The results speak for themselves. Daniel was Player of the Year in 2004. However, it is not Daniel’s wins that necessarily makes him the best player out there but it is also his losses. Watch the WSOP main event and you will see a man who can read every player at the table. A person who can make tough lay downs and is will to take the “right” risk as well. When cards are not running his way, Daniel keeps a positive spirit. Daniel has made a great start for 2006 by winning the event in Tunica. Daniel will continue his success at poker tables everywhere.  1. He created and started www.fullcontactpoker.com forums. Daniel’s influence is what makes FCP forums the best out on the web. He post on there frequently and keeps his fans aware of his whereabouts. He voices his opinions and shares his ideas. He created an environment where individual posters have emerged as characters with lots of popularity but at the same time, while perusing through the site, you get a strong feeling of community.  He chose great administrators to design and formulate the site which is easy to use and is inviting to new members. Daniel also chose moderators who were already a strong presence on the site with unique styles and attributes. Daniel is Full Contact Poker.  *************************************************************I was playing at the Hard Rock last night and for some reason, the thought of this article popped into my mind. Maybe because every time I had 10 7 I laid it down and I would have won big if I played it. Then of course, the one time I played it, I got nothing! Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.  A while ago, my son was telling me about free Belgium domain names. Well, I snagged danielnegreanu.be and I posted this article on there as well. Daniel, if you ever want the site, let me know. I do not plan on using it to make money on someone else's work. I just thought I could use it as a fan site.  Take care everyone!T:)
Was there a prize on who can kiss ass the best? I've must have missed that sticky.

Heh, I only take Xanax before I play in a live big buy in tournament. :-)But it wasn't just a question - it alluded to the fact that the pompous ass you were responding to was reflective of an RGPer, and that sir I have to take offense to. ;-)Patrick

Let me tell you how cool DN is... I was in Vegas for the Superbowl and for Marinos personal appearence (good friends) after the signing at Caesers I went to the poker room to see if the FCP guys or Daniel were there. I knew that the FCP weekend had a freeroll there sometime during the day and I was hoping to catch a glimpse. I saw Daniel and called him over from the VIP section. He came over (even though he had know clue who I was) and I told him I was Oziumrules from FCP and he shook my hand and invited me over to take Brian (his agents) place in the freeroll.. He was genuinely friendly and funny and I had the time of my life. I know plenty of famous people but meeting Daniel and playing poker with him was a highlight. He also spoke with every on the rail and took plenty of pictures. Most celebs wish they had a quarter of the class DN has and I can say he really cares about his fans and fellow posters at FCP. I also went to Jen Harmans Celebrity poker tourney on Fri night at the Palms with Marino and all the poker celebs were very nice, taking pics and chatting..except for T.O. who was there for some unknown reason (he said he doesnt take pics w/ fans) what a jerk. Thanks for the great time DN, your a class act and I hope to post the pics soon of my weekend in Vegas.

Awesome! Sound like you had a good time Ozium :-) You're right about Daniel. I have met him a couple of times and everytime he takes time out and chats for a minute. DN's a total class act. Cool pics. I'm looking forward when you post the rest of them.

   "writing crusade" seems about right.  wow.basically, i just wanted to point out that compliments are much more meaningful if they are given objectively.  listing 10 compliments and no criticisms takes away from the value of the compliments.
No it doesn't. Why do you have to critisize some one in order to compliment them? You must have grown up in a real fun household. jsSometimes overlooking some ones faults is the greatest compliment you can give.
i didn't say (or didn't mean to say) you have to criticize someone in order to compliment them, just that listing in glowing terms a whole bunch of compliments, without even mentioning a criticism implies that you aren't looking at the person objectively. which in turns means that your compliments take on lesser value, than if they were made objectively, by considering their faults as well.in response to your point, i was saying theresa was not overlooking his faults (a virtue) but either not considering them, or rationalizing them. neither of those reflects positively on the objectiveness of her opinion.i think your final statement is not really pertinent. sometimes that is a great compliment, but i don't think theresa's post was meant to make DN feel good, or boost his self-confidence. personally, if i am being complimented, it has much more value if i know those compliments are being given, with my faults taken into consideration as well.and the comment about my household was out of line. it may or may not have been overly critical (hard to compare), but we are all very happy, well-rounded, successful people. "fun" was probably not a huge priority."daniel
And when you are telling your wife/girlfriend how beautiful she is you always make sure to mention the stray hair, mole, or cellulite ?Why not let the person who is issuing the compliment decide what points they would like to make ?

I kinda agree with him, theresas post was all right but then the next 27 posts were "I agree" and "well said" and some "daniel is god" I like daniel too but at least add to OP, not type "im a sheep" or "im the biggest fan"
I too find it absolutely astounding and shocking that there are so many Daniel Negreanu fans on a forum that was created by Daniel Negreanu. This is the kind of news that stops traffic.
as usual my point is missed completely, my point was people arent adding anything, im not saying its ok to love the guy just dont post redundant crap saying "I agree" this isnt AIM, add something when you post
Damn.....makes it hard to pad the post count that way !

T113 - I enjoyed the post. Did you imagine when you were jotting down your thoughts that it would generate such controversy ? The negativity and nastiness of some people amazes me. Wow
My intent was not to create controversy. However, I think I should have known better.

Great post T.Why can't people give up the "fanboy/girl" criticism, it's getting quite old. If you don't like it, don't read it, simple as that. Being a fan of a particular poker player is pretty much the same thing as being a fan of a particular baseball team, no different. So if you chose represent your colors, then so be it, and be proud doing it.

didn't really think it created controversy either. i was trying to have a discussion on what i thought was an interesting issue. i didn't even argue any of the points. i guess people see a long post, and they think its a flamer. i should know better than to start any type of discussion in general (or FCP in general it seems :club: )

it isn't necessary to point it out, since your wife knows that you know. therefore you are telling her how beautiful she is, despite knowing her faults, which makes your gesture even more meaningful.it seems any negativity towards DN gets flamed or ignored, and my point is the "fanboy" attitude is less meaningful than compliments resulting from critical discussion.i don't really have anything else to say. i think my post just above gives my feelings on the issue in general.cheers, daniel

Mrdannyg, I'm trying to follow the logic of your criticism/compliment hypotheses and I think I've almost got it:compliment: you post quite a bitcriticism: most of them are inanebut I shouldn't have to say the criticism because I know it and you know I know it so my compliment is more meaningful...

if indeed we both know it, then you are correct that it doesn't need to be said (according to my logic).inane: One that lacks sense or substancei'd like to think my posts are less inane than most on here, especially in the General forum. since most of general is random insults, using poor factual bases and even poorer logic, i think that is a poor way to describe my posts.daniel

Fair enough, I concede that most posts in general are worse than inane. However, to state that one "would like to think" that their posts are less inane than most because most contain "no factual substance" is a matter of opinion and not fact. Therefore, your own post, to an admittedly lesser degree, is inane n'est-ce pas?

hence the word "less."
