TheLadiezMan 0
I would appreciate if we don't flame in this one, if that isn't too hard.I'm entering my first year of college and I'm undecided on my degree. I think I'm going to shoot for Business Management and a minor in economics or political science but I really don't know. I really like history but there isn't much to do with a history degree except to teach and idk if I could deal with little smart ass kids like me without slapping a few of them. Although some day I would like to coach a baseball team so that might be the only way I can do that. What I would really like to do is just spend my day investing in stocks and real estate. Real estate where I live you can make a killing and probably just about anywhere too. Since most of you have already graduated or are in college can you possibly take some time to describe your degree and what it led you to do and the benefits and disadvantages of it. If not oh well thanks anywaysThanks..

TheLadiezMan 0
Sorry I like Leon Phelps.Anyways I tryed getting an internship this summer at my local baseball farm team to see what kind of oppurtunities that would open up but no dice. I went to a seminar a little while ago and they talked about how hard it would be to find a good paying job with a degree in sports management. They talked about how you could even start out selling tickets with a college degree. pckt10s it almost seems like you could easily go back to school and get your pt degree has that thought ever crossed your mind? Just wondering..my mom is a pta..

If not oh well thanks anywaysThanks..I think if I've learned anything from the amount of college I've been though so far, (1 and a half years) It's that uncertainty is widespread. I commented on this in the "American Beauty" thread as well. I'm in my 2nd half of my sophmore year, and I'm still kind of shaky as to what I want to do. Right now I'm studying criminal justice, which I'll probably wind up sticking with, but as for a job I have no clue. I think if you have an idea of what you wish to do for the rest of your life going into college, you are way ahead of 80% of the people there. However, expect it to change. I changed my major (or thought about changing it) 3 or 4 times in the past year and a half. I went into college hell-bent on becoming an english teacher. Then when I found out that 1- my school doesn't have a great english program and 2- I could make more money in other fields, I wanted to go into journalism. I figured I'm good at critiquing movies, music etc, so why not? Well, eventually I came across criminal justice when I took a 100 level course as an elective. It interested me, and although I've always had a passion for english and writing, the school I planned on transfering to had an excellent program, and linked to one of the best Criminal Justice schools in the country (John Jay in NYC).I'm only in my second year, so I'm not much further along than you. I'm just saying that it's pretty normal not to know what you want at you stage of the game.p.s. if you like the ladies man character, get your hands on Handsome Boy Modeling School's album called "White People". There are a few sketches in there that Tim Meadows does as Leon Phelps and they are absolutely hysterical.

milestodavid 0
I'm double majoring in Political Science and English at the time being. Definately keeping the Poly Sci. track, but I might fade on the English. My main goal is to be a sports agent considering I am a huge baseball fan. I'm in your same boat pretty much, since we do have the same interests.

My major is accounting and wouldn't change a thing. Accounting is the field to be in. What many people don't know is Accounting is no longer JUST numbers. Accounting is far from "bean counting."As an accountant, a huge part of the job is communication. I recommend this degree to anyone who likes money.

Rags4Me 0
I majored in Finance and minored in Psychology for my undergrad degree. I do like to dabble in the stock market, but over the past 10 years or so I've found that I don't have the time or inclination to be a day trader. As far as I'm concerned Finance is a good major if you have an interest in it, because there are many possibilities in both investment and general business. I started out in accounting and then moved into IT during the 90s, eventually getting a Master's in IT.Regardless, a business major of any kind will open up the possibilities to a lot of different types of jobs. I would also recommend getting a business major in a specific area. For example Accounting, Finance, Marketing, rather than a general business degree.
TheLadiezMan 0
Thanks, you guys are actually enlightening me a bit. I think I'm going to look a lot further into finance and international business ( as a minor). I know accounting isn't that boring and there is actually many interesting fields you can continue on to. I, however, have a really crappy accounting teacher right now who has turned me off from that field of study completely as it is right now. Tough to like something and want to pursue it when your first impression of it sucks .
