Getting bored when I am getting cold decked and watching all the fish get the money...
The term "cold deck" is not when you aren't getting any cards (that's called "card dead"), but when someone makes a ridiculously unlikely better hand when you have the near nuts. For example, you hold AA, the flop comes AQQ, and your opponent turns over QQ.
Interesting, I thought cold decked meant what dbrent though too. I wonder if enough people think something means a particular definition, than it really does, even if it wasn't originally meant to.Like today, "dork" means closer to "nerd" or "dweeb" instead of the original "penis".Or, "cool" means "50 cent" and not "MC Hammer".
Eh, I don't even know why I corrected him. Who the hell really cares... we all knew what he meant. Man I'm a d_ickhead sometimes. Or dorkhead. Whatevvs.

I am also sure that the term cold deck refers to a deck that has been prearranged to cheat you out of your money. (i.e. haveing AA with flop of AQQ and losing to QQ like said before.)
Right. Originally "cold deck" meant that the deck was set up to give you a big hand and give your opponent a *really* big hand. See the expression "the deck was stacked against me". It was a cheating technique. As poker moved from smoky back rooms to smoky casinos, cheating became far less of an issue. The term came to refer to a hand that was seemingly so unlikely that it could only could happen if the deck was stacked ahead of time.Incidentally, I have a story about cold decking. I have a friend who used to play in a $5/$10 blind PLO8 home game in LA in the mid nineties. It was always pretty big action, with a couple of wealthy bad players funding the game. One night, a unbelievably massive pot happened. One guy had the nut boat on the turn. Another guy had turned quads. Another guy had flopped the nut flush and the nut low. Another guy (the host of the game) had the 2nd nut low (A3) and a straight flush draw. After the turn, so much money was in the pot ($30,000+!!!!) that the game paused and people called their friends over to make sure they would actually leave with the money if they won the pot (evidently it was not the friendliest of games). Every player still in the hand was all-in after the turn. The river came the 2d, counterfeiting BOTH nut lows AND making the straight flush for the guy with A3. The guy scooped the pot with A3 and a straight flush, beating 2 nut lows, the nut boat, and QUADS with a river 1-outer. The game broke immediately and never convened again, as several players felt like cold-decking was quite likely. Hard to believe nobody got their ass kicked, but my friend says no. Amazing.

Seriously my biggest leak is playing tight/agressive poker and having all my premium hands cracked. This in turn causes me to take remedial action and play at two levels higher in an attempt to win my money back-as recommended in all good poker books. Therefore, i am now the fish that is putting bad beats on other people causing then to play two levels higher, tilting merrily away.Soon the whole site is on tilt.Sorry thats my fault

For some reason in limit poker, I have massive swings... like up 500 and then down 500 in a few days... I hate limit.Sit-n-go's I'm cashing 67% of the time in January

I fall into 2 traps, which I've done better with lately...not to say they haven't gone away yet.1. I tend to stick with hands I know, or have a good idea are already beaten.2. I get impatient on tables with rocks and make stupid moves...then when I make a move I refuse to let go of the hand.

Just wondering if I would get any responses to this question. I think my biggest flaw is letting a hand go when I know I have just been donked out on. (i.e. someone hits runner runner for a flush when I flopped trips and didn't improve AND did not give them near the right odds to chase.) I find that laying these down are much easier at higher limits, but when I go down levels it just enrages me so much that I get tilted. This is what I am working on shearing up right now. Any one else?
My biggest problem is not even with my game... with my game it is reading people. but in reality, i simply HATE sitting at a table for 7 hours and losing 26 bucks. It makes me want to get drunk, and wollow away my sorrows on mr. negreanus site. Then i see that he does not have a new blog up, and my depression goes even higher. Seriously, i dont think that mood swings based on my poker results are healthy. If I could handle these then i would at least be a lot happier.

My new year's poker resolution was to stick with my reads more.i.e. TPTK situations when I know I'm up against an overpair or a set, I used to just get frustrated and stubborn. Also, I wanted to better control my steaming, which I have to say I've been pretty successful at. That said, there are still times when I lapse into donk play, and they usually go hand in hand. I start steaming, I get stubborn, I lose money.

I need to stop outplaying my opponents and then realize that they are calling stations and will call me down with A high or third pair no matter what I represent...Funny thing is that they only seem to chase when I'm outplaying them and fold when I have a hand =)
