He limped UTG and then called an all-in for 5/6ths of his stack with A-10 suited...I'm thinking he calls with AJ there and you are up around 80k...But, then again...I can say that easily now seeing that other hand. Theraflu 1,035 Posted January 18, 2006 Author Share Posted January 18, 2006 how do i decide when to limp and when to raise? i hate being transparent and limping with mediocre hands, but i dont have the chips to raise 3x the bb and then fold to an all-in...i havent shown a lot of hands yet, so my raises are getting some respect, but i feel like if i limp then im asking for people to come over the top. i hate the idea of limping with strong hands, because it's fukked me over too often in the past, but its necessary to disguise play at some point... You could probably afford to steal a little more, but that's fine.You lucked on there with KQ v A6, but if you folded to 9k more in a pot of 40k, I would have been quite upset. I know the standard is usually 3x BB, but at this point, if they're going to fold or push to 25k preflop, they're going to do the same to 20k. While I don't recommend stealing from huge stacks, it could be to your benefit, considering they're willing to gamble a little bit and have chips to pay you off with when you have a hand. Theraflu 1,035 Posted January 18, 2006 Author Share Posted January 18, 2006 i understand what you're saying about limping, i assume its mostly because the blinds are so high and there really isnt much flop play, but no one seems to be raising more than the minimum so im just lookin to flop something strong to play with. the EP limp i had a9 suited, but neither of them had anything so i took it down. unneccesary risk? probably.the all in from the BB i had kk.the set of ducks was wonderful.
