srharris22 0
so we have a group of guys headed up to AC from NC as well as a friend from Pennsylvania coming over (he won a seat in WSOP 05 off bugsy's) and we are all looking to try and play in a couple of tourneys weekend of march 4,5,6th. Any help would be appreciated as to best places to go, and specific times/locations/price/starting chips. I figured there were either some locals or some people that frequent AC enough to answer or you can send me in the direction of a website that might help thanksStephen
Roberto21 0
Tournaments are few on the weekends. You should definitely play at Borgata, though. You can play a nice 6/12 game there and they really take care of you, unlike some of the other places. I have never had a problem per se, but the element is so much nicer at Borgata. Happier dealers, younger players, etc. There are too many guys grinding out the rent at the Trop.
srharris22 0
thanks for the info i saw where the taj has a no limit tourney on saturdays for about 100 bucks, you ever play in it? or anyone for that matter.
gregdon8 0
The Taj has two tournaments on Saturdays. The first starts at 11 am and is a $100 buy in where you start with 5,000 in chips but the blinds skyrocket and they introduce an ante less than one hour in. The second tourney is the same structure and starts at 630 but is $200 buy in. Also the Tropicana has a tounrey at 11am that is $200 and you start with 5,000 in chips but I think structure is better. Good luck
srharris22 0
thanks i will check into both of those. i think my biggest concern was that it would be a rebuy tourney wher eyou get only 500 chips and the blinds start at 25/50.If anyone knows about when you have to sign up for these tourney's i would appreciate it. Or if they tend to book up on the weekends, we will be getting in on friday evening so i figured we could not sign up until saturday morning
bobbytheo3 0
ive played both the taj and trop's $100 tourneys, but only on weeknights and the structures arent very good. 4ooo in total chips, with blinds increasing fast and furiously and antes enter play real quickly. it becomes all-in poker very very quickly. dont know about the weekend tourneys, but if they are the same, i would try borgata out of default. i have never played there, but the structures cant be worse than the other

srharris22 0
just wanted to post a note for those that replied. I played in the Taj tourney on saturday at 11am, got up to 18k by end of 2nd hour, putting me at 2nd in chips on the table with other player at 28k. and that was the end of life for me. Those blinds were retarded, i made a 3k call in the bb with AKs after 1 player moved all in for his last 4k and another player just called (he had too many chips and if he had a hand i knew he would have reraised). well initial player had KK and other guy had j10, guess who won, the J10 with 2 pair on the river after we checked it down. that was about all I got with 3 very active larger stacks that came in, until i got KQ with 8k left and 4400 in the pot preflop, but player to my left found Ak and he took me down when just the king hit, oh well.other than that it was probably the Absolutely most uneventful weekend of poker ever. Played mostly 1-2 or 1-3 blinds NL with 1-300 dollar buyins, and i think i ended up down about 30 bucks for the entire weekend, should have atleast won 300 dollars when i bet on an outside straight flush draw on the flop an the other player put his last 100 in with pocket nines and a jack on board, oh well what ya gonna do, i was the favorite on the flop but he hit a set on the turn and the river was a blank.thanks for the info, personally i think most any tourney that is put on by the casinos, outside of a 1000 dollars or so, is not set up for the poker player to really play poker, rather get his chips in with the best of it and hope b/c that means they can run more tourneys/just run a tourney and make people happy to win a lottery for 100 bucks that can pay out a few thousand. DwayneWayne 0
anybody know about the $300 6:30pm tourney at the TAJ?same deal? fast blinds? short stacks? All-in poker?
KKsuited 0
yep, sound like you've nailed it srharris. No tourney at the $200 level has a good structure at a live casino. Some of the tournament events (Spring Pot of Gold, Orleans Open, etc.) have some smaller events with 40 min levels, but that's about as good as it gets.I played one of the tourney's at the trop, triple up at the end of the first hour and had 10bb's to start the 2nd hour. As you stated, retarded!
