If you like being able to finish tournies, I would say stars.Depending on who is around and who cares, this is a post that could set off a massive flame war. But since I am guessing noone is, and noone does, I doubt it will.

I've heard that Full Tilt has the toughest competition in ring games... I've been playing at Party and am looking to switch to either FT or Stars so I wouldn't mind hearing opinions on these two sites as well.

Participation at FT is up, so naturally it is gaining more fishies. WSOP viewers are seeing the jerseys that Matusow Gordon etc wear and are joining. But let me get this straight. You are a ring game player and are looking to switch away from Party? Do you not like money? I am not a big party fan myself, but I would say the prevailing opinion is Party ring games are by far the easiest.

I'll give you a serious answer since Billy couldn't contribute anything. ;-)FullTilt has the superior blind structure, especially later on in a tournament. Not as much traffic as Stars, but it seems to be growing. They have a decent tournament selection, and offer games like HORSE that Stars does not. I've never played cash games on FT, but early on it was known as a 'rock garden' (tight players). I'm not sure if that has changed or not. FullTilt's software has been incredibly buggy, their rules seem to be faulty and out of touch with the rest of the industry, and their customer service is just flat out bad.But hey, maybe you can play a $5 sng with Andy Bloch.PokerStars has the largest tournament selection, and the biggest prize pools from week to week. There are far more players in the Stars tournies then FTP, so although that increases the prize pool it also makes it more difficult to consistently make it deep in tournaments. The blind structure could use some tweaking in the middle levels however, which can make that part of the tournament into a crap shoot. From what I've seen, Stars' cash games vary from rocky to very LAG depending on stakes. Stars customer service is second to none, and their software rarely has any sort of problem. But then again, I heard it's rigged because someone's AA got cracked.Patrick

Neither site is better, it all depends on what you're looking for.Full Tilt has good structured tournaments, but they typically have much smaller fields. Thus, the prize pools will be smaller than the Stars mtts. Also, Tilt has rockish ring games and not a huge number of players, although they are growing. FTP also has premier software, but its VERY buggy and has glitches that need to be fixed. Also the customer service at Tilt BLOWS.Stars has HUGE tournaments, and great satellites into major events. I would venture a guess and say the ring games on Stars are better than Tilt, but I dont play at Stars. Also, the customer service at Stars is by far the best in the business. Finally, if you want to play ring games, DONT LEAVE PARTY! Unless you hate money of course, and some people do.Good Luck.

No. I am primarily a sng player. I've been railing my friend in some stars sng's and I like the blind stucture much better on Full Tilt than Party. You start with nearly twice as many chips and the blinds go up half as fast. It makes for a longer tournament but it is obviously advantageous to the skilled players.

Warning: Content Below!!If you are looking to switch away from Party Sit-n-gos, and you are playing anything less that $100 ones, I would say go to Stars. The competition is weaker than FT, mainly due to the fact that there are 10s of thousands more players, and the structure is comparable. If you are playing larger ones, find the site whose structure you like best. Quality of competition won't differ much from site to site at this level, so structure should be the main determinant in terms of what you want to play. At the lower levels, a good balance between structure and competition is the way to go.And Pat, shouldn't you be getting out of that freezing winter that you are enduring and be heading to Hawaii?

If youre a sit and go player I would tell you to play at UB or Tilt. UB doesnt get as much hype, but its a terrific site for SNGs. They have a great structure (IMO, the best) and a solid number of players. Personally, I think UB is the best online site out there for tournament play.

Perfectly understandable - that weather combined with growing up watching the Bills lose Super Bowls would make anyone bitter.Patrick

Don't forget watching the Sabres lose the cup when Hull scored an incredibly illegal goal.If it weren't for the fact that I am a turncoat and like the Blue Jays, and that Cuse won the national title two years ago, I am convinced that I would have the sports personality of a Red Sox fan.

Who are you supposed to like living there? Mets or Yankees? You can't go wrong rooting for Pat Borders, Joe Carter, and company. Who else...Jack Morris....Dave Stieb....George Bell.Sabres? Cup? Hull? Goal? What peculiar sport do you speak of? Here's a question: If two hockey teams play on tv and nobody watches, did it really occur? :-)Patrick

Yeah, most people up here like the Yankees. In my household, the fact that I didn't like the Orioles was practically a cardinal sin. My mom grew up in Baltimore and their triple A team was downtown. And as for hockey-I don't even like hockey. But when you can't go outside for fear of the extreme cold causing you to be infertile for the rest of your life, you have a tendency to grab onto Checkoslovakian goalies and root for them with all your might.I am loving this hijack we have going.Edit: Morris was a Twin. And don't forget Robbie Alomar, Jimmy Key, Paul Molitor, etc etc.

Pfft, Orioles. Sounds like you made the right decision. Although, you could have watched Raffy all these years with his cute little 'porn-stache'.Here's a random point of argument: Cal Ripken Jr hurt his team by continuing 'the streak'. Discuss.Heh, ya we kinda highjacked it huh? ;-)Patrick

Stars for more reasons than most can imagine.1. They have the best selection of SnG's, which all fill up pretty quickly.2. Large field, small field, rebuy and deepstack tourneys are amazing on here, plus the satellites they offer are great, and the weekly tournament is unmathced.3. Very soft cash games, wide selection of tables to choose from if you're a selection freak.4. Great software.5. Great support.Easy to cashout, transfer and deposit. Very little hastle in each "department".Not saying FTP is bad, but Stars is much better IMHO. I've played on both sites, by the way, so I'm not being entirely biased.

If my mother heard you say that, you would be banished from her house forever.I don't think he hurt his team-Ripken at 162 games wasn't significantly worse than Ripken at 150 games and someone else in for 12. Look at Tejada now-he plays every game and you don't hear people asking for him to be replaced. Lost in the talk about the streak is the fact that Ripken was way above average offensively and above average defensively for most of his career. With shortstops hitting 40 homers nowadays with 130 RBIs, you forget that a 20-80 season was very rare as short as a decade ago.

Oh yeah-I forgot that he was the first ultimate turncoat player-pitches arguably the greatest game of the past 50 years, and proceeds to bail on his team the following winter.White was real solid-probably the precursor to the Kenny Loftons that definied centerfield the middle part of the 1990s.Key was probably my favorite pitcher on those teams. Guzman was arguably more fun to watch, but his stuff his first 3 years was just filthy. Key actually had an idea of how to pitch, and he always seemed to get the big outs when he needed them.

I think over a span of however many games (2632), a day off here and there would have done him good. The baseball season is a grind, and a day off every few weeks never hurt anyone. Maybe not a _significant_ difference, but enough that it could effect the outcome of a game or two. I'm not saing he wasn't a HOF caliber shortstop, but I think it was detrimental to the team (and his own performance) to not rest once in a while.I'm leaving work so I'll continue this exciting discussion later...It's pretty irrelevant anyway, considering the Blue Jays and Orioles play in the AL, which any baseball purist knows is an abonimation and not even real baseball.Patrick
