I made the trip to Resorts Casino outside Chicago and played a little $5/$10 Omaha 8, and made about $380 in 5 hours.If you think people play Hold 'Em poorly, wait 'till you see people try to play this game. The level of play was absolutely horrid, and these guys just kept going to their wallets and pulling out more hundreds. I swear these guys had never played this game before. I know this was just one session, but given how these guys played, I don't think it would be possible to lose money in this game. I'm heading back on Monday for some more... It suckedThere was obviously NO low draw on the flop, but this donkey called anyway and picked up a low draw on the turn, and got lucky on the river. I live in Chicago, and stopped in there once about a month ago, and ended up not even playing a hand because they had a tournament going that I wasn't interested in playing, and the side games didn't look very good. I was at Turning Stone a week ago.. missed my name for the Stud H/L game so didn't get in till 1am when all the old timers were on their way to bed. The table was down to 3 people, so I was just asking everyone who walked by to play, got a couple people who were waiting for the omaha table to open up and it was just ugly the cards they were playing. He goes on an on about how this is the best way to make money playing poker (late 70's mind you). The concept that really get these people going into the wallet so frequently is that they feel that I can get "half". That is so true for Omaha 8 as well. They chase both ways, and someone is doing this every hand. There is a guy who just abuses the 6-12 game (with a full kill) at Casino Arizona. He will tell these people, to win "you got to find a hand that can chase both ways, your bound to hit one of them right." Without fail, there will be 2 people each hand chasing both ways. navybuttons 15 Posted January 15, 2006 Share Posted January 15, 2006 it is possible to loose money at live O8.some days your draws just won't get there. it can be really frustrating when you jam with the nut low and a flush draw and then a effin counterfeiting 2 comes on the river to destroy your hand.but for the most part it's shark in the water. I sometimes play OM8 at Lucky Chances out it San Francisco... I recall the last session of 6/12 (with a half kill) I had a hand that came down like this. I limp with AAxx in EP and so does pretty much everybody else... flop A9X... I bet and get 7 callers (literally). Turn is a 9, I bet, get 5 callers, and the guy to my right checkraises. I reraise, 3 people call cold, and the checkraiser calls. River is a brick (no low) I bet, and all 4 people call. The guy who checkraised on the turn had A9 for the lower boat, and the other 3 mucked. I can't even imagine what they must have had... unreal. I literally more than doubled up on this one hand.
