where are more fishies -- online or casinos?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious where you guys feel there are more fish for hold'em play. I realize there are other variables (limit vs. NL, table spread) and considerations (increased number of hands per hour online, spotting tells in a casino and the all-important "I don't feel like wearing pants today, so I'll play online"), but I'm looking for an overall perspective. Where do you feel you're more likely to make better money?Discuss amongst you... A E

Why would not wearing pants stop you from going to a casino???

You can't really ignore other variables. There are more fish online because there are more people with computers than those that live near casinos. And online spreads micro limits, which casinos don't.casino players are weaker compared to the same online level.

I mostly play online, but have taken a few trips to Atlantic City (not many cuz i'm under 21) I feel that at low stakes (ie 4-8 and beloq) there is more money to be made online, because the rake is small, no tipping, and you can multi table. But there is absolutely no question that the donkishness of live players is far greater than online. in the 2-4 games i've played at in AC, the level of play is comparable to that of .05/.1 online. People will call to the river with nothing, they'll cap with 25 suited, they'l think that QQ can't lose, it's pretty amazing. Plus free drinks will enhance the donk factor at a casino too. I'd suggest the Borgata between 1 and 5 am on a thursday-saturday night. People get loaded and just donk off money.

I have to disagree with this because when you play live,...........other factors come into play. Mainly, reading skills and learning to use your instincts.

Reading skills and instincts are unnecessary at low stakes live holdem tables. Play solid "abc" poker and you will win. Obviously this is not the case at 6-12 and up, and making good reads can't hurt. But the number of people who will call to the river with any pair, any draw, or absolutely nothing makes these games beatable if you just play TAG.

That actually makes my point stronger. Most people don't read other players, and are easily read in turn. Most people aren't good. Toss in the free booze, etc erac22 mentioned and casino players are pretty bad.On the other hand, the online 3/6 player is much more likely to be a grinder who worked his/her way up from the micros.

Why do people do this..say something totally meaningless, then add something such as "nuff said" to it and believe they have spoken with the sort of profoundness reserved for confucious and a marching band of philosophers. You have said nuffing.

Sorry, but you're just wrong. Players are way worse live.

More fish on-line but the casino fish are easier to spot and are fater.
More fish because there's more people. But I don't think that was the question. The idea was to figure out whether there were more.. On Average... in casino's or online. Being easier to spot has nothing to do with whether they are there or not. And you're wrong too. The amount of fish on average in a casino far outwieghs the online game.

Have some of you even played in a casino? If you have... then you would know the right answer to this question. If you haven't... then wtf are you doing answering this question?
