what music are you guys listening to?

Recommended Posts

I've been listening to one of my favorite records from the calender year 2007 for most of the day. If anybody here likes Shoegazey sounding music (think: My Bloody Valentine), listen to: The Twilight Sad- Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen WintersIt's got the same "soundscapey" feel as a lot of shoegaze albums do, but it's also more accessible in a way, too. It's getting a good ranking in my Year End list.

Hans, boubie, I'm your white knight

holy shit, I can't stop listening to Run The Jewels 2

Bob Dylan.

What's the french dudes name that plays covers on his acoustic guitar? I think he released a new album a few months ago, but I can't even remember his name so don't hold me to that.
Seu Jorge, and I think he's Portugese or something, and yeah he did just release something recently.

Haha, I figured there were quite a few Connor haters in here. I admit you either love or hate his music. I've never heard anybody say "Eh, Bright Eyes is okay..."
i was mostly kidding; i don't dislike bright eyes, i just don't ever sit around listening to it.

Anybody watch the tv show Chuck on NBC? I've seen parts of 3 episodes, and so far the soundtrack for the show bears a striking resemblance to my playlist. So far I've heard two songs from Spoon's most recent release (Don't Make Me a Target and I don't remember the one from tonight), and at least one song from Boxer by The National (Slow Show, I believe).Good call, Producers of Chuck. Using Spoon on the soundtrack isn't incredibly out there, given their odd status as an indie-ish band that's mainstream-cool, but I wasn't aware creative people attempting to appeal to large markets even knew who The National were.

NBC has wood for Spoon, somehow. I've seen them play several NBC post-prime-type comedy/variety shows.

Yea, the material is still early December from what I've been hearing. Just the CD is supposed to be early 2008, but I've heard it may be in December as well.As for Ghostface, I can't ****ing wait. He is one of few hip-hop artists that has consistently put out good work. Not to mention I'm going to see him in concert Nov. 13th, I still haven't determined how well I'm going to fit in with the crowd there, oh well.

I've been to a few rap shows, and it always works out surprisingly well. I'm super pumped (<--- super gay) for the Ghostface album, too. He's been pretty hot for the last few years.

I like most of the Wu-Tang Clan. Ghost is the most consistent, but I only semi-recently heard Liquid Swords, which is maybe in my top five hip-hop records ever.I came up for air from Rainbows, and I ended up listening Da Drought 3, which I completely forgot about. I used to HATE Lil Wayne, but this thing is incredible. *Recommends*

It bothers me how much I like Lil Wayne. But I use it to relate to the hardcore, gun-toting, paroled negroes at work.

I'm sure you guys already know about her since youre up on the music scene, but I found this great new artist. I can tell she's going to be huge.* Give her a listen, so you can say you heard her first.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BfAOQX34dA*I'm talking bigger than rickroll huge. In fact, since this is a "poker" song, I say we make this the new rickroll. If that's blasphemy, well, sometimes youve just gotta have no feeaarrrrr.

My first reaction was, "oh my God, that's the worst song ever. I'm going to need revenge." But then my overdeveloped sense of irony kicked in...

I was going back through older rap cd's and came across Richie Rich's album Seasoned Veteran, great west coast stuff from the mid 90's that was way overlooked. And new Ghostface = awesome news.
QFTMFTIf you look at my CD collection it is predominatley mid 90's rap and that cd was sic. E 40 and the click popped out of all that. I live on the wet coast and my neighbor (black guy) used to live in oakland and new Dru Down. I had his sons do some work for me and asked them if they had ever heard of rappin4tay and they looked at me like I was crazy....I put Luda on them while they were doing work and new all the lyrics, so they obvioulsy new that type of music. From that time you have 2pac, Dre, Snoop, Richie Rich, E 40 and the click, Dru Down, Too SHort, Ant Banks, Ras Kas, South Central Cartel, Tha Dogg Pound, JT Tha Bigga Figga, etc. etc.

E 40
I was just listening to Some Things Will Never Change by him, by far my favorite song he ever released.I love that Seasoned Veteran cd - Pillow, Let's Ride, It's on (f. E-40), Niggas Done Changed (f. Tupac), Touch Myself Remix (f. T-Boz) and the best tribute to Tupac ever done... Do G's get to go to heaven?Another good rapper/producer that gets widely overlooked from back then (and even today) is DJ Qwik.

Go back an listen to some of the beef that DJ Quick had with MC Eight, it was pretty funny
