what music are you guys listening to?

Recommended Posts

I just relistened to Pharoahe Monch's record from earlier this summer, and have to reevaluated my stance. About a month before it dropped I heard it and would've given it about 75/100. Now I'm giving it a 90something, and it's solidly my favorite hip-hop album this year. I don't xnow how it flew under my radar like that. I'm going to play it again, now.

About once a month I leave my house wearing a stylish pair of jeans (inherited from my younger brother), a Dinosaur Jr. t-shirt, and a black blazer/sport coat. There's really nothing more alternate and hip.Is there?

yea this thread has made me a better person
Hey, my friends just gave me a few albums by this great band that I've just heard of. They're called Radiohead. I really like that Paranoid Android song. Anyway, you can read all about them at this website. It's really cool and has lots of great music on it:http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/Also, I hate DMB.

Do you also have an iPod, big retro headphones and a messenger bag? If you need a bag, the army gives them away. I've gotten 17, and there's no slowing me down.

When wearing my Dinosaur Outfit (so named because people always expect something so much different) I ALWAYS wear my iPod. And the guy I live with has gigantic DJ headphones, so I'll have to start wearing those. I always thought wearing an iPod with iPod headphones was pretty mainstream-alt, but I'll try your idea. As far as the messenger bag goes, yes, I do own a single-strap backpack. Don't worry, it was a gag-gift. I also have a pair of glasses ripped right from Rivers Cuomo's FACE.Wang

These are actually really good, sound-wise, for the price. I love my Tri-Ports, but they're over-priced and break if you look at them funny (when I say "look at them funny," what I really mean is drop them on concrete pretty consistently). I barely notice the difference in sound, and these are pretty sturdy, so if you're looking for a good pair for under $50, I like these, and that's before you factor in hipster appeal.

Anyone know if Edan is planning to make another record?
According to his myspace page, not for six-to-eight years.I sure hope so. I've made a few of my hardercore African-American friends listen to him, and they all really enjoyed him. And then I told them he was white. And, I think Jewish. They didn't like him anymore. They are more racist than me. At least I'll admit I can't stand listening to DMX because he's black.Wang

Can someone list 5-10 of the truly greatest Electronica albums of all-time, please? I don't really know where to start.
My personal favorite of all-time is "Richard D. James Album" by Aphex Twin, I feel like mk should be the one to put this list together, though.

I already asked him to in another thread. I'm on the edge of my seat. Also, I have that record, though I'm yet to play it. It's hard for me to get into music I'm not familiar with. Any favorite tracks to start me off? Also, again, is Aphex pronounced A-fex, or A-pex?

I've always pronounced it like A-fex.Some of my favorite tracks would be:4, Fingerbib, Yellow CalxI don't know though it's one of those albums where I don't really see it as individual songs, it's an album. If that makes sense.

Something like that does not exist.
No one is being a smartass about your taste in music. This is like the only thread on the forum where people aren't assholes to each other, and the people on here who listen to this kind of music are some of the smartest on the forum, so take your stupid little digs elsewhere. I don't mean to be an ass about it, but flaming each other about our taste in something subjective isn't going to get us anywhere, and every time someone starts coming around and telling people their music sucks, it ruins the thread for like 50 pages.
