the 10/20 limit guy who started with $1000

Recommended Posts

Is he still winning ? That one guy that was making fun micro limit players. How loose are those 10/20 limit games ? I may just give them a shot. It seems those NL games are so tight that they are barely profitable. I've been reading SSHE lately and I feel like I'm understanding limit more.

I think it would be fair to say if you don't have the paitence for NL you will struggle with Limit.Best though.

Well, although he worded it as vaguely as humanly possible, I think it is a generally true statement that the better players migrate to NL in the online world. You will find a lotttttt more suckers bleeding a couple bets at a time in the limit games. The good players realize this, but then also realize they can bleed 10 or 30 or 100 big bets off the same morons in NL. They ARE harder to find in the NL world though. No limit is where most of the moneys at...unless you are a highly specialized limit player, or a very good heads up player.

i think for the most part people who like limit play limit, and those who like nl play nl.furthermore, when i was playing .5/1 nl there was an incrdible amount of fish. maybe you should try some shorthanded tables.

i agree with this statement 100%. the fish get punished too bad when they play nl so they migrate to lim to bleed off their cash slower.

This doesn't really prove anything, but arguably the two best players in the strat section of this forum play limit simply because they prefer it. Aseem has said NL is too volatile and to the best of my knowledge Screech does not play NL very often. Both these players have the ability to play NL, they simply PREFER limit.Sorry screech if this isn't true for you but i'm 99% sure it's true for Akishore.

SSHE will not work for 10/20 just so you know.
Yes it canThere are many medium stake games (10/20 - 30/60) that I have seen play like 2/4. Its not about the stakes, its about the players.

As far as most pros are concerned, as with SSHE, 10/20 is low limit hold em. Most wouldnt start associating with the "middle limit" catagory unless they were atleast playing 30/60 but even then that would be stretching it.
yes, but 10/20 at a casino is much different than 10/20 online.

Incredibly true LIVE... Not as much so online.

The bottom line is... it's going to vary from table to table, and it's going to be different at each poker site.If you want loose play you could play NL nitro sit n go's or something.

TrueI am more of a live player than online, so that was my point. SSHE was designed for live play, but most of its concepts translate to online low limits.

I talked to this guy on AIM, he wasn't joking. Here's some excerpts from the conversation (he's konidias):First, you have to realize it does take longer to drop 50 bbs when you are playing 1 table on pacific. It's slow as hell and he probably does not get many hands in. He's relatively new to cash games as well and he just doesn't realize how big a downswing can be in a 3 handed game.NAMBLA Gambla: i think you need to go read some sklanskykonidias: um, thanks i guessNAMBLA Gambla: good stuff on bankroll managementkonidias: sklansky doesn't need any more moneyNAMBLA Gambla: i think you need some lessons in bankroll management if you've never had a 50 bb downswingkonidias: why would I need a lesson in bankroll management if I haven't lostkonidias: I've been playing online for over a year, I know how to manage myselfkonidias: probably... but I haven't played ring games for as longNAMBLA Gambla: and you seriously normally play 2 or 3 handed?konidias: yesNAMBLA Gambla: manNAMBLA Gambla: well how long have you played ring games?konidias: I'm a winning player... I don't care what anyone else believeskonidias: I play them on and off... but recently been playing them more oftenNAMBLA Gambla: but even if you are a winning playerNAMBLA Gambla: a 50 bb downswing happens to everyoneNAMBLA Gambla: and a lot moreso in a short gameNAMBLA Gambla: so i mean i know you probably won't listenkonidias: oh I've had downswingsNAMBLA Gambla: 50 bb though?NAMBLA Gambla: never even 50 bb?konidias: when I first started learning I lost a lotkonidias: of course I made up for itkonidias: I lost a lot of what I won, because of terrible bankroll managementNAMBLA Gambla: 50 bb downswings (and even 150 bb downswings) happen all the time especially in a 3 handed gamekonidias: I have my own way of making that not happenNAMBLA Gambla: what's that?konidias: I've found that when I take a bad hit... like a straight getting beat by a flush, or something similar, that I just take a breakkonidias: and it's worked for meNAMBLA Gambla: but that's the thing man sometimes the cards just slap you in the facekonidias: it seems like when you're doing bad, you're doing horriblekonidias: last year I was foolish and tried to play 15/30 with 1500 dollarsNAMBLA Gambla: and you didn't learn your lesson?konidias: I got up to 3000 and then went straight down to 0konidias: I didNAMBLA Gambla: so then what makes you think you can beat 10/20 with 1kkonidias: because I'm doing it in short sprintskonidias: I'm not sitting there for 15 hours with 1kNAMBLA Gambla: so what? that's all short pieces of the long runNAMBLA Gambla: it doesn't matter if you do 1 hr a dayNAMBLA Gambla: for 15 daysNAMBLA Gambla: or 15 hrs straightkonidias: it does when you're playing different peopleHe then said something like people are just jealous because he's doing what people thought was impossible and he's proving them wrong.
