some vegas hotel help

Recommended Posts

Hey guys my 21 birthday is coming up in Feb and I have a vegas trip planned. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of the El Cortez Hotel. I am not looking for a five star hotel as I'll be at the poker tables for most of the trip. Anyone have any suggestions for a cheap non rat infested place to stay.

Just Google it! There are plenty of affordable air/hotel deals, even for some of the upper echelon of hotels!Have fun and, if you get drunk, try not to cross too many streets. The drivers are insane!

El Cortez is downtown.....you would need to take a cab or the bus to get to the strip. If you want to stay cheap on the strip...check out Excalibur, Tropicana, Flamingo to be in the good part of the strip.Check out the Riviera, Stardust, and Sahara if you don't mind taking the Monorail to the good part of the strip.Excalibur will be the best quality out of all of them.....but they are all the Ritz Carlton compared to the El Cortez. Flamingo is the best location wise.

Couldn't agree more...if you plan to stay at the El Cortez, make sure you're packing some heat, and sleep with one eye open. I wouldn't go there in the light of day, much less spend a night.

Theres also been some REALLY good deals at the Luxor and Monte Carlo lately. Those are both pretty decent places to stay, better than the other ones listed so far at least, plus there both in great locations. The Monte Carlo is right across from the MGM which has a great room and the Luxor is right next to the Mandalay Bay which has a pretty soft game.

You'll definately want to stay on the strip. For a 'lower end' of the strip hotels, I would try Imperial Palace. Nothing special about it but the price and location is hard to beat. I've stayed there once and they treated us well. Last time I went to Vegas we stayed at the Aladdin and it was also a great time. Good luck at the tables.

If you are a Charter Member you can stay at Daniel's house. He has a nice guest room.
He told me the guest room was being remodeled and I would have to sleep in his bed with he and Lori! Of course I extended my stay by one week.

I'm not sure the El Cortez would be my first choice of places to stay, however it is always a fun time to gamble at. The Plaza, Binions, or Gold Nugget all have poker and the hotels are usually pretty cheap. The Gold Nugget is by far the nicest choice for hotels but all the games downtown are usually pretty fishy. Most of the main Casinos on the strip have poker so I would just stay wherever you get the best deal, however for my money Downtown is the place to gamble and party at. Good luck

The Westward Ho
Nooooooooo! Seriously. Bad idea. My best friend's husband is a coroner investigator in Las Vegas. Do not stay at the Westward Ho.

Well...it's not even an option anymore...the Ho closed. They are going to be putting in some gigantic ferris wheel or something there.

This is a good thing. The ferris wheel idea strikes me as strange, though.

I am shocked and dissapointed. I made a perfectly good joke and it took almost two hours for some one to acknowledge it. When did the General Forum lose it's sense of humor?

Hmmmmm. I'd like to see more classy casinos go up. I really enjoy the Bellagio, The Wynn, and the Monte Carlo. I'm way too cheap to actually stay there, though.

The sidewalks are no bargain either. I took this photo from the brige between Bellagio and Bally's. Some guy drove up on the side walk and ran over a bunch of people. Closed the whole strip.http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b6df2...6108AZsmLlszbNx
