I doubt 20K is enough for No Limit at 100-200. Do you see why this is a waste of time for anything other than bragging rights?

He might as well flush 20,000 dollars downthe tube well at least 10,000 of it. more money. i heard this guy plays 10-20 limit.
Guest
I think DN might take this bet,it just seems like a friendly wager I think the above posters didnt even read the "terms" of the bet by the replies they gave. The 20k probably means very little to DN, not sure what it means to gavin it would seems a very good way to motivate both players, not for the $ but for the bragging rights. ChipLeader7 0
To the posters above did you even read the blog post its a little prop bet for tournies not a heads-up challenge.
doublemeup 0
Free 20k, sure DN take it. I mean thats nothin to Daniel but maybe he could start a thread where the first poster to post in it get $1k and we could do it for 20 days straight. I'm liking this challenge more and more. Redrum 0
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Smith win more $$ in 2005 than DN. Isn't a bad prop bet at all.
Binbs 0
You guys need to stop acting like DNs attorneys. It looks like a friendly wager to me. Read the blog first.

Jeepster80125 0
I just got this email from Full Tilt. Full Tilt Lessons, "In Defense of The Call".Gavin Smith writes, in part, "Or, a well-timed call might allow me to pick up a pot with a hand that wouldn't win at showdown."What? How can I call and win a pot that won't win at showdown. Can I scare him off of his hand by calling? Does this sound suspiciously like a JFarrel???I'll post the entire article, if anyone would like.
stealfromblind 0
"Now I understand that I will likely play many more events than Daniel will so I propose we add some parameters to the bet, here is my proposal: We bet 10k on money won for the year. We bet 10k on money won at the World Series. We only count events in which we both enter. If you would prefer to use points rather than dollars I will accept that also!"thats what the bet is, its not a heads up challenge dumbass
doublemeup 0
yeah maybe you guys should read it first. oh and for the person that said Gavin won more money, you're probably right but remember Daniel had his worst WS of all time. If Daniel's not running bad then he'll beat gavin outta that 20k in no sweat.

theredpill99 0
With the call thing, I know what he's talking about I think but he'll still need to bet the river. Anyway, 20K is a joke to Daniel. Why doesn't he just challenge him to a headsup match at FCP for $200K or a series of matches? I'm willing to bet that Gavin probably plays the entire 2006 and never makes more than $100K in winnings. BTW, I never knew he won a WPT championship. It must have been very recent and hasn't been aired yet.

BNH77 0
DN is pretty competitive, he may take the challenge for bragging rights to his home country.
No_Neck 0
I think it is fun, it is kind of like a last longer bet something to spice up the year, and allow plenty of good natured trash talk.

Does this sound suspiciously like a JFarrel???I'll post the entire article, if anyone would like.I think he just worded this poorly.I think he means that if someone is bluffing at the pot, Gavin would make the call. Assuming that the other poor schmuck has something like BPLK, he might respect Gavin's call, giving reasons to believe that he might be beat. Of course, Gavin would have to put out a bet on the river, but the call is what would win him over.

Does this sound suspiciously like a JFarrel???I'll post the entire article, if anyone would like.I think you should actually read the rest of the article yourself so that you figure out what he meant. His example of the J-J versus 7-7 is likely what he was talking about. He calls and then outplays his opponent off J-J post-flop where it would have been hard to do it pre-flop. If they had gone to showdown, 7-7 is usually going to lose to J-J. It isn't really rocket science.
sloshr 0
Actually, you can win a pot with a well timed call. Let's say a player bluffs the river, and you feel he is bluffing, but the player behind you probably has a strong hand. You call with a weak holding like bottom pair and the player behind you folds his top pair, thinking it is not good enough for the overcall. Doesn't happen that often, but it happens. As far as the challenge, it seems like a waste of Daniel's time. I did read the whole post, but it still does not seem like something that would interest Daniel. Also, I have played with Gavin, and he is very good. Obviously he has been lucky to win as much as he has, but so is everyone who wins tournaments. He is also a good guy, so I'm happy to see him succeed.

timbo83 0
that guy is a goose. I could've swore that the minimum for a challenge was 200k. Does anyone think he looks like a clown (or am i in a dream  )
