joeythep 0
Yeah, Stu's last days WOULD make interesting discussion. Accusing someone of "helping to kill a legend for a few lousy bucks" is NOT. I know NOTHING about the situation, except that :A) You don't know as a fact that Daniel took Stu's last 25k. B) You don't know WHAT Daniel knew about Stu. You just assume that he knew everything about the guy. I don't know every detail of my coworker's lives. C) Let's face it. Sitting down at a table full of professional gamblers with the last 25k you have to your name, while you're supposedly "trying to turn your life around", hardly makes the guy seem like a sympathetic character. D) You are an inconsiderate bastard, giving absolutely no thought to what you post, or the impact it could have on people's feelings. People like you deserve to rot in hell. merry effing christmas *******.
BigDMcGee 3,367
I just got done reading a book about Stu Ungar. It said that he was real down on his luck and had a bad drug problem, but someone staked him $25,000 for him to get in the big game at the Belligio and try to get back focused on poker and turn his life around. Even though Negreanu and a few other top players knew of Stu Ungars problems, they jumped at a chance to break him and take his roll. Not long after Ungar sat down with Negreanu he was indeed broke. This was Stueys last chance to turn his life around but Negreanu took all hope from him (along with a nice chunk of change). Now Ungar had nothing more to live for, he had given up hope. A short time later he was dead in his hotel room of a drug overdose. Thanks Negreano, you helped kill a legend for a few lousy bucks. You know...there is immaturity....and then there are things that people should just get their tongues cut out for....and the OP is a prime candidate for the latter. This forum can be a great thing for numerous reasons. It can be informative, it can be fun, it can be a place where people with common interests can find a sense of community. The downside is that this forum gives a public voice to people such as yourself. People that have no regard for true human emotion. People that have no regard for the true gift human interaction.Do you feel like you are a better person for posting this garbage? Did you for once even sit back and consider the personal effect inflammatory comments such as the above may have on someone? You are just a total disgrace to human beings everywhere, and I think it is very unfortunate to the thousands of good people on this forum that you happened to stumble across it.I just thought this might make for some interesting discussion. I found the book very interesting and Stu Ungar was definatly one of the top poker players of all time. Since this is Daniels site and he was one of the last people to see him alive, I thought Stueys last days might be a good topic for this forum and maybe Daniel would chime in with his memories of Ungars last hours.I know that DN has talked about that session, and has said that it changed the way he looked at NL. Playing with Stu, even a burnt out, on the rocks ready to die stu, changed DN's whole way of looking at NL poker. I'd love to hear him elaborate on how..

And you are right, I dont know all the facts. Thats why I would like to hear Daniels side of the story. Here, I'll take a few stabs at DN's side of things..1) it wasn't stu's gambling dengeracy that killed him, it was his massive drug addiction. While he didn't od, he had a heart failure, his heart was destroyed by decades of drug abuse. How DN playing Unger at the end of his life had any effect on this process at all, is beyond my ablitty to imagine.2) lets just suppose, for a moment, that it wasn't a lifetime of drugs that killed stu unger, but it was rather his gambling degeneracy, and that he killed himself right after that NL session. it wasn't a heads up match, DN was just one of the guys in the game, and he was in the game BEFORE unger sat down. If DN had been in that game or not, the result would have been the same, Unger's head wasn't in the game, and he was playing the best in the world. He had no chance in the game. If it wasn't DN, it would have been someone else.3) Suppose the above isn't true, and DN just played unger heads up, and then unger went and killed himself, what ever happened to personal respondibily? Unger is respondible, and unger alone to the events that lead to his death, not anyone else.

BigDMcGee 3,367
how many solid blows with a standard club would it take? would this job be tiring? whats a clubbed seal go for anyway? From what I understood from the NY Times article, seal clubbers are required to kill the seals with one blow to their fragile little skulls. You can get fines or something if you don't kill them quickly and cleanly, unfortunatly..

As much as I wish that were true, cindyk, It alas is not...Now, as for someone destroying someone's life, I read about this woman calling out SLim Prestion for ruining her husband's life, about playing him heads up in poker for days on end.. the man was a recovering drug addict, and Slim fed the man drugs during the whole session. SLim broke the man, and the man ended up dying a penniless junky. Now THERE"S case for a poker player adding in the death of another. God I love slim.
