mk 11
There is a lot of talk in the Chicago papers about a possible four-way deal between the Red Sox, Orioles, Cubs, and White Sox. Sounded like the most plausible scenario would send Manny and Garland to Baltimore, Prior to Boston, either Bedard or Tejada to the White Sox with the other going to the Cubs.SoBoston: loses Manny, gains PriorBaltimore: loses Tejada and Bedard, gains Manny & GarlandChicago WS: loses Garland, gains either Tejada or BedardChicago C: loses Prior, gains either Tejada or BedardIt seems safe to assume that if something like that goes down there will be lots of extraneous players and cash thrown around to compensate for value.I dunno. Never will happen. Baltimore has already said they don't want Manny. I don't really want Prior in a Red Sox uniform anyway. Chicago just wants Tejada really bad. I doubt that The White Sox would give up Garland to get Erik Bedard. Also, Baltimore probably doesn't want to give up Tejada and a pitcher to get Manny and a Pitcher. MDXS 0
Prepare for 3rd place Sox fans.Heh...it's December. The team is nowhere near complete. We're not even at spring training yet. Remember, the way the Sox build their teams is to spend two months seeing what is needed, two months getting it, and two months rolling with it. That's the theory at least. The real bottom line is that there's no way the Jays pass the Sox.

mk 11
Garland resigned by the White Sox. 3-years, $29 mil. Looks like they might try to dangle Contreras for Tejada.
Hobbes 1
Burns's contract was non-tendered by the Orioles. I believe that makes him a free agent. Also, Jose Reyes is sick. Yes, his OBP was .300 last season. But he also had 190 hits, 17 triples, and 60 steals. He is only 22. 190 hits in 725 plate appearances. Only 27 walks in 725 plate appearances. 17 triples is nice, but still leaves him with a slugging percentage under .400. There's nothing there that says he's an adequate hitter. I'll give you that he's only 22 and still has his prime years ahead of him, but how much improvement can you count on? Is it worth a Manny Ramirez, a guy you know will give you lots and lots of offensive production? He needs to learn a little plate discipline to be more than a sink hole in the lineup.I'll also give you the stolen bases. 60 out of 75 is a very good rate. Still not enough to make him a worthwhile trade.

milestodavid 0
If anything, the Red Sox need pitching. They made a huge step when they picked up Beckett (from my dissolving marlins ) and he will help bring their starting pitching up from the mess it was last year. I think their only reliable and consistent pitcher last year was Wakefield. You never knew what you got from Arroyo or Wells. Schilling coming back didn't really help too much, as he just diminished high spirits. Their bullpen was in shambles as well. I've always been a Foulke fan, but whats happened to him has been unfortunate. And Timlin as well, he def. needs to step up. The biggest piece they need to pick up is a LONG RELIEVER to pick up what starters couldn't do. They had no one to get them through the middle innings. So we need to look at some more offseason transactions having to do with bullpen and starting pitching, as opposed to all this Manny talk.
