goose 0
I was just informed of this today, and was wondering who else has been living their life in mild yet blissful ignorance, especially in Canada, where I'm told this terminology is almost non-existant?"Chips" are tokens that are not redeemable for cash, and must be converted to cheques before they are able to be cashed. "Cheques" hold cash value, and can be taken directly to the cashier for exchange. Therefore when you play with poker "chips" that can be directly exchanged for money at the cashier they are not "chips", they are "cheques". An example of "chips" are roulette "chips" which are transferred into casino "cheques" when you leave the game. And now you know.Unless I'm wrong, in which case now you're confused. mrdannyg 274
thanks for this goose. i've never played with "chips" apparently, and only with "cheques." I'm Canadian and as such was unaware of this difference. Was a bit confused though whenever I watched Rounders!
srblan 0
In every place I've played, the terminology is interchanged freely.
