I always tell people "It's better than real work."I've been at the casino for almost 8 years, been dealing for about 4 1/2. It's not bad. After a while, you get a little burned out cuz it can get really repetitive some days.I definitely plan on staying in the business, but I would rather move up to full-time floorperson. I temp as a floor now (only a couple days a month), and I enjoy that a little more. I don't want to still be dealing 10 years from now.Also thought about moving to Vegas or more of a vacation locale...not sure yet. My casino can be a grind when you see the same crabby ass people 4 times a week.

since i haven't caught up, i'm going to have to go on blind assumption and believe that you're talking about poker dealing...if you're not, disregard the rest of this post and flame me or whatever.talking to a dealer at the aladdin last night, best dealer i've ever seen, he asked me where i was frmo and all, told him that i just moved in, wanted to be a dealer..."let me give you one piece of advice...never go to dealer's school. you pay them a thousand bucks and they teach you how to shuffle. casinos don't care if you went to school, they care if you can pitch the cards out fast and keep the action moving. practice at home and you'll save yourself a bunch of time and money."

John wants to know if you think there is a lot of room for movement as well as flexability in scheduling. He guesses some of it depends on which casino you work at.

I was really worried about wanting one after smoking a bowl. I wasn't going to get high last night because I was afraid I'd really really want a cig. But then when I busted out of that freeroll I really wanted to get high so being the slacker that I am I did. Surprisingly, the cigarette craving wasn't worse, in fact, it might have been better.
