Both things.Alright so Nik and Scott seem to think this thing is dying and Nik is pleading with everyone to just post once a day and trust that the fun stories and conversations will come when we get back in the habit of posting.While I still feel like I'm repeating things nobody wants to hear again (since you've probably all read it all on facebook anyway), if it makes Nik happy, I'll try it.So on that note, here's what's been going on with me lately....First, what Nik mentioned is true. I got a chance to see Cody again for about the 10th time this year last night but I got a chance to spend a few minutes with him for only the 2nd time ever last night. Last night was much better than the first one if for no other reason than I walked backstage of my own accord rather than having to be drug back there against my will like last time. Last time I was skeered. This time was a little better. He did call me baby. He also called me bitch in the same breath. I'm absolutely fine with it. Actually, there's this running pun with Seth James where when anyone says "Seth James" we all yell "BITCH" like the "I'm Rick James, bitch!" thing. Well last night, Seth had just slayed one of his songs and in a quiet moment I yelled "THAT is Seth James, bitch!" Cody looked over, pointed at me and said "That's right, baby. That IS Seth James, bitch!" It was one of many neat little moments we had with Cody and the guys last night. The guys were all really awesome and Jeremy (bassist) even took the time to come out into the middle of the bar after the show to talk to us - me and Melissa specifically. That's how we ended up back behind the curtain with the rest of the guys. We got pics and chitchatted with everyone. I guess you have to be a super groupie and in love with Cody to get it but it was a pretty special night for me and my friend Melissa both. I've been pretty wrapped up in music of all kinds - mine and other people's lately. I've seen Miranda a couple of times. She still remembers me. Saw Blake once recently. He's still hot.Finally got a chance to see Willie Fucking Nelson a couple of weeks ago. My friend Adam Hood - who is a singer/songwriter that deserves more recognition than he gets - got a gig opening on Willie's tour this summer so Adam invited us out and got us passes to the show. Adam was awesome. Willie, not so much. He just sounded bad and yes I realize the man is 77 years old but it wasn't his voice. He didn't sound old, he just sounded bad. Like all out of time and he played the first 2 songs with a completely out of tune guitar. I was wholly disappointed but still glad I can cross that off the bucket list.I've been playing a whole lot of guitar. I think I'm getting better. There's a couple of videos on Facebook of me playing and singing if you're interested. Any requests? I like learning stuff that other people want me to learn otherwise I'll just go round and round in the same song circles I always run in.I've been writing a lot but I've come to the point where I think I need to seriously pursue finding a writing partner. Someone to bounce ideas off of and stuff. I'm real good for a verse or 2 and a chorus but then I get stuck and the song tends to meander in a really meaningless way. I think I need someone elses perspective to help me finish this journal full of 1/2 written songs I have.I'm actually taking formal guitar lessons. Well, they're not "formal" but I mean I pay for them so they're formal lessons. Once a week, from a dude who plays lead in a local metal band and sings in another local death metal band. That's going well. It's not like I would expect. It's not like choir class in high school. We don't do drills or learn Italian arias and shit. Basically we just get together for 1/2 hour every Saturday and we talk about music theory and I show him stuff I'm working on and he gives me tips or corrects my technique or whatever. Sometimes he'll play new stuff he's writing for me. I thoroughly enjoy those 1/2 hours and it's part of what makes me think I'd enjoy having a writing partner.Let's see...what else...there's more music on the horizon. Some of my RanFan friends (Hayley and Courtney and Ronie) are coming in next weekend. We're going to see Ran play with Merle Haggard (another one I can cross off my bucket list) and Stoney LaRue. Then the next night we're going to see my HoneyPie SugarFace Wade Bowen and Randy Rogers do their 'Hold My Beer and Watch This' acoustic summer show. Should be awesome since we're all super groupies to Wade & RRB too. They recognize us. They love us. Nik, I wish you were coming for that. I'll tell Wade and Brooks you sent a Patron shot. ;)My dad is on the kidney transplant list. Not sure if I've mentioned that? He had 1 kidney removed a couple of years ago due to cancer and his remaining kidney just isn't able to compensate. They've started prepping him for dialysis in case a kidney does not come available before the situation gets dire. So, everyone hope for a bad human being of about 25 years of age with a good kidney to make a bad decision on a motorcycle or something, okay? I kid, I kid.Ozzy is doing well. He's working all the fucking time. He's the team lead now which meant a promotion but I think sometimes he wonders why he took it. Or maybe he likes the extra responsibility and stress, who knows? He's good though other than working too much and being tied to his phone all the time. We're both looking forward to Vegas. Wish more of you fuckers were coming. Remind me why you're not coming, HotStuff and remind yourself that it will be the first one you've missed. That guilt do anything for ya? No? Like I said the new casino doesn't open until July 18th. However, most of my co-workers moving there gave notice and are gone or will be gone by early next week. Our business won't go down until the new place opens, so we're really shorthanded in the meantime.I'll probably try to work some overtime so my last paycheck before Vegas will be nice. It was more exhausting than I would've expected to do these things. In addition to that stuff, the kids hit balls with bats for 30 minutes straight. They are going to be tired tomorrow. We won 400 tickets (the maximum jackpot) in Deal or No Deal: the game. That was surprisingly awesome. We amassed over 1600 tickets and came away with not very much cool stuff. That was not awesome. I did convince Raist to spend his on giant licorice ropes which are at least, consumable. On the other hand, Conner is going to have a hard time digesting his plastic ninja swords.I haven't done any of those things in a long time either (I assume you mean mini-golf, which is far more fun for me than normal golf putting).Also agree with you on cashing tickets for candy. I think I'm going to have to check every day. I'm holding out hope that Dave will decide to come, but I think All-Stars may conflict.I still haven't either.Bing is telling me the same. I'm looking at Thurs-Mon and they show flights almost $100 cheaper if I go a day later and stay a day later, but I'm not doing that.It wouldn't get me into Vegas until like 5 or 6p Fri which is too late, and there's not much point in staying until Tuesday.
