major brunson hater

Recommended Posts

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say he wasn't really questioning Brunson's ability. I'm going to say it's kinda like rooting for a team. Why not root for Hampton when they play Duke in basketball? Who's the win going to mean more for? I don't think this was some, really, veiled, way for Kurt to take a swipe at Doyle's ability. Just sayin'.
Thank you for actually noticing.I have tons of respect for Doyle and his game. All I'm saying, is all this ass kissing without any second thought is kinda stupid. The only reason most of you root for doyle is because ESPN told you to. Because they always show his standing ovations when he busts out and tell you he's such a godly poker figure. Frankly, I'll go ahead and give an ovation to any player who busts out before me. Better chance I have to win. The whole thing is kind of silly. So really, the problem is not with Doyle, he's cool. The problem is with all the blind followers who root for him with no real reason other than he's a good player who has been around a long time, and espn said so.
Hating on Brunson. How iconoclastic. How Punk rock. How fuking lame.I root for Doyle because Super system was the first serious poker book I ever read, and it transformed my game. Also, I just don't understand this kind of vitrol against Brunsonand Brunson's fans. It's like those people who wanted arnold palmer to stop playing the Masters. of course people love Doyle because he's been around for a long time. PEople root for any elder person who is still successful in their sport. People rooted for Nolan Ryan more and more with each year he was in the league. Imagine if Arnold Palmer was actually competitive in his 70's, how big his galleries would have been. Brunson is an absolute legend, and NOT just because ESPN says so. Hating on brunson, and his fans is player haterdom of the highest order. Hating something just because it's popular is just as lame as liking something just because it's popular.

I don't want to get involved in this one, seems like a pointless debate, but I did find this bolded statement kinda ... funny.Isn't the fact that he's a good player who's been around a long time a "real reason" to root for somebody?

Wow.I don't like Doyle.I don't respect Doyle's game.Doyle is worthless.Doyle is ugly and his mother would dress him funny if she were alive.Come on guys, you got to admit that those guys at the Alamo were a bunch of cowards and that Liberty Bell is the dumbest symbol on earth. Personally I would like to take a dump in it.

His point was just that it'd be nice for someone else to win and that they deserve someone backing them too.
No' date=' this is what he said...
Rooting for Doyle is just so... safe and boring. Why? Because he's doyle? Lame.Grow some balls and root for someone else.I take it that first one is a girl? I want her to win... has a woman ever won anything? Seriously? Yeah' date=' lets root for the underdog chick.[/quote']other than she is horrible and read supersystem 2 last night because doyle was going to sit on her left. lol wtf is that, and she told people about it on a cardplayer video clip. The point was to not root for doyle... otherwise I don't care. I just don't see why everyone has a love affair with doyle, just cause he's old and has been doing it forever. I'd much rather take lessons from someone else if given the chance. I mean, i'm not against him... just wish everyone would get off his nuts sometimes[/b]Thank you for actually noticing.I have tons of respect for Doyle and his game. That's not just saying it's time for someone else to win.. it's pathetically attacking someone just because they are popular.

I see what you are trying to get at here Kurt, but you are going about it the wrong way. You are also insulting everyone that does root for him by calling them sheep and only rooting for him b/c ESPN says so. Not true. The man is a legend in his field. You don't have to like him, but you do have to deal with him and his followers. Now go get me a cinnamon bagel.

Yeah, what exactly is a "real" reason to root for someone ? they have big breasts? They have indy rock cred? They say quack quack when they bet? (well.. maybe quack quack...)

Wrong. An attack would've been, "Doyle's a no-talent jackalope who routinely plays like garbage only to suck out. He's terrible and it wouldn't surprise me in the least that Alzheimer's is his biggest advantage at the table right now, for the simple fact he doesn't know what he's doing and either does anyone else." "It's amazing that someone with that little talent can somehow still have the bankroll to play at The Big Game. They probably feel bad and lose some of his money back to him just so he'll continue coming back."Kurt simply said, "Get off his jock and think for yourself."That's not an attack.

You guys are all really off.Why don't you all cheer for Amarillo, or Chip Reese, or Henry Orenstein???Someone please tell me why it's Doyle. But not any of the other Icons of the games. These guys are in the hall of fame too ya know? They've been doing it for years too. You can come up with all the arguments you want, but it doesn't change the fact that what I said is right. It's like telling 15yr olds that they won't really marry that guy/girl they're dating right now. And they don't even know what love is. But gotta love em, they will fight you to do the death on it, no matter how right you actually are.

You're right... not everyone. Just the majority. That's all i'm saying. What emptyeye said is totally fine for him. But it's just that there's this huge lovefest for doyle, in the whole poker world, but not for anyone else. At least not anywhere near the same degree.

This is the only question that really matters. Why do you give a fuck? Who cares? People are stupid. The quicker you realize this, the better off you will be. It's like seeing some kid where his sweatpants with one leg hiked up, because LL Cool J did it in a video once.Or someone wearing glasses and a hoodie at a 2/4 table.People are sheep and they are stupid. The quicker you realize it and stop trying to convince them otherwise, the better you'll be. Let them be. Ignorance is bliss.

Nice avitar.. LOLFirst off, if amarillo hadn't bad touched his granddaughter, it would be slim that people were ralling behind, he was the public face of poker for decades before. If Chip reese would make WPT final tables, I'm certain people would root for him, very very hard. The fact is that Doyle's just had more major tourniment success, coupled with more promotion, than Reese or Orenstein.

I don't really care.I'm just responding to the moron who made this thread about me. Obviously I said something so bad that he actually got sick over it. And when it comes down to it, I like to rattle up all the folks who live on doyle's balls. It's fun.And believe you me... I know about everyone being sheep... it's just annoying.

I agree w/ the above assesment. It's like going to a Cubs game and saying all the fans at Wrigley stink, and are only there to drink, and don't care about the game. While I'd say that is true of about half the stadium, the other half of the people are true Cubs fans, or at the very least baseball fans there to see a ballgame. (by the way, I hate the Cubs, but I thought it was an OK analogy).

No, his point is people root for doyle, with the exclusion of all other players, with is absurd.

Yep, it works. Unless you're talking about sox fans, because they pretty much do stink, but it's ok... because they're winners now. :)The resurgence of white sox hats in rap video's is just around the corner.p.s. for the record, i'm a cubs fan who is also a sox fan. but I must say, it's much more pleasing to the eye, to go to wrigley. that's all.
